This week is a special one on DWTS. Fans might want to stock up on tissues now. The remaining eleven celebrities dedicate this week’s dances to someone they love. Viewers should expect special appearances by Zac Efron in support of his younger brother, Dylan. ’90s kids will get a blast from the past when Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel (Topanga) dedicates her dance to Mr. Feeny himself. Actor William Daniels, 98, will be in the audience for the heartfelt night.

Season 34 frontrunner Robert Irwin also has a special dance planned. The Australian conservationist took to social media to speak out about an emotional week after suffering heartbreaking family news.

DWTS Robert Irwin Breaks Down Over Heartbreaking News

Robert Irwin sadly lost his father in 2006. And fans won’t let him forget it. The famed “Crocodile Hunter,” Steve Irwin, died after suffering an injury from a stingray while filming underwater.

The DWTS contestant was just a few months shy of his third birthday when his dad died. He’s spoken out in the past about how hurtful it is for his followers to constantly bring up his dad in the comment section.

Steve Irwin’s family has continued on his legacy as an animal lover. His wife, Terri, and their kids, Bindi and Robert, operate the family zoo in Australia. But Robert Irwin has another great love: the family dog, Stella.

He shared a heartbreaking update about the pup. “A mass was discovered that ended up being cancerous. We still don’t know the full extent of the cancer. I have faith she’ll be in the clear,” he wrote on social media.

“It’s been stressful to say the least being away from home and away from her while she goes through this,” he added.

He’s temporarily living in Los Angeles, California, while he’s on the ABC dance competition. There are rumors he might move to the U.S. for good, especially if he does The Bachelor and finds an American wife.

His Sweet Dedication Night Dance

Robert Irwin isn’t the first in his family to compete on DWTS. His older sister, Bindi, won the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 21. He was in the audience on the “Most Memorable Year” night when she dedicated a dance to “Every Breath You Take” by the Police to her late father.

This week on DWTS, Robert Irwin and his partner Witney Carson will perform a contemporary dance to “You’ll Be In My Heart” by Phil Collins. But he’s not dedicating the dance to his late father. Instead, he’s taking a moment to honor his mother, Terri.

“This dance is for my [mom], it’s for anyone who’s lost someone… and it’s for all the strong mothers of the world who deserve our recognition and appreciation,” he said on social media about the special night.

Dedication night on DWTS airs on Tuesday, October 14. You won’t want to miss the emotional dances and the stories behind them.
