Paraplegic Man’s Wheelchairs Stolen From Oklahoma Home
A paraplegic man in a wheelchair from Oklahoma City claimed his home was broken into twice by burglars, even sharing a firsthand account of the intruders. Reportedly, his mobility gear, including both of his wheelchairs, and other medical supplies were stolen. Since the news came out, members of the community got involved. Authorities have also shared information about a suspect connected to the case.
The Man’s Oklahoma City Apartment Was Subject To Two Different Break-Ins
Alan Prudhome is a man from Oklahoma City whose home was recently subject to a break-in. In addition to valuables, the thieves allegedly stole both of his wheelchairs and other medical supplies.
Effectively, the burglars also stole Alan’s mobility in addition to his possessions. The home was reportedly subject to two separate break-ins.

According to People, Alan’s Oklahoma City apartment was broken into on September 15 and 23, 2025. The burglars also reportedly stole an estimated $1,200 loss. In addition to the wheelchairs, the burglars took around $500 in cash, three phones each worth around $100, and around $300 in food.
Speaking with KFOR, Prudhome himself also shared, “They ended up taking my manual wheelchair, the hand controls that I use when I drive, medicine. If I have to go somewhere and be in a car, I have no wheelchair to do that.”
Prudhome also discussed how what happened took away his own peace of mind. He shared, “I just, I don’t feel comfortable being home by myself. I freak out like I’m having [a] panic attack when I’m there alone.”
Prudhome saw the burglars firsthand during the incident. Reportedly, one of the burglars tried to take a bag Alan was wearing around his waist. He saw the other come out of a closet with a box of his things.
Enough Was Taken From Alan’s Home That He Was Left Unable To Purchase A Replacement Wheelchair
Prudhome shared, “I can’t do much for myself. I can’t defend myself. And there’s two people in the house that I didn’t know.”
In a police report, authorities shared that Alan seemed “visibly upset” and “continually stated nobody would have ever done this when he was able-bodied” during their investigation. Around eight days later, on September 23, he then noticed his apartment door was pried open.

According to News 9, due to the amount that was stolen, Prudhome was unable to afford replacement wheelchairs. He shared, “Being on disability, I scrape by every month, and so I’m struggling as it is. And then they took what cash I had.”
Police later took Johnny Johnson III into custody in connection with the case after he was identified by Prudhome near the apartment. At this time, it’s unclear if there were other arrests in the case. Prudhome previously described the intruders as a man and a woman.
Reportedly, community members also came together to help Prudhome after the news came to light. This included replacing his stolen wheelchair and medical supplies. On a GoFundMe initiative, Prudhome shared, “It’s been one of the hardest times of my life.”
Prudhome Also Shared What Happened Convinced Him Not To Renew His Lease
“Any support, big or small, will make a huge difference in helping me get back on my feet and regain some stability.” He also thanked “Mr. Stacy Reddig” of Wheelchairs for Veterans for a “nice new manual wheelchair” and “offering to help by replacing my stolen medical equipment.”
Prudhome also shared that he has decided not to renew his lease due to the incident. The raised funds will reportedly help with moving costs, in addition to replacing the stolen items.
