Blackstock died in his home in Butte, Montana, back in August from melanoma, and Kelly Clarkson has been taking her ex’s death particularly hard.
The American Idol winner and talk show host has canceled shows and essentially put her career on hold to be there for her children during this difficult time, especially as they mourn the loss of their father. Some Kelly fans are concerned that her taking time away could damage her career, but, she has no problem putting her family first during this time of mourning.

For anyone who does not know, country icon Reba McEntire is the former stepmother of Brandon Blackstock. So, the degrees of separation are not very much between Reba and Clarkson. Recently, Reba also gave a family update, including how the young children are doing since the loss of their father.
Reba McEntire recently said to Entertainment Tonight, “The kids are doing well, they’re all bonding together and hanging out with each other, and taking it one day at a time.” Reba continued, adding, “We miss him. We miss him every minute.”
Kelly Clarkson Postponed Las Vegas Residency Shows Amid Tragic Loss
In addition to sharing two kids with Kelly Clarkson, Blackstock was also the father of two older children with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth.
Kelly Clarkson had just kicked off her new residency in Las Vegas, which she has postponed due to this family tragedy. Prior to this, she also canceled the opening shows of the residency to rest her voice amid all the preparations that were being made before the show kicked off.
Announcing the postponement of her Las Vegas residency, Kelly Clarkson told her followers on social media, “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
