Sharon Case Reveals Fear Of Losing Her ‘Young & Restless’ Job
Sharon Case has earned rave reviews for years for her portrayal of Sharon Newman on the CBS soap The Young & The Restless. The actress just marked a huge milestone at the soap opera but still worries about being fired at any time.
Sharon Case Celebrates Major Young & The Restless Milestone
Sharon Case joined The Young & The Restless as Sharon Collins in 1994. September 14 marked the thirtieth anniversary of her first air date. She was the third actress to play the character that would later become Mrs. Nicholas Newman. Parenthood star Monica Potter was the first to play the role, followed by Heidi Mark. Neither lasted long in the role.
But when Sharon Case took over, the character became an essential part of the soap opera. Her off-and-on romance with Nick has dominated the show for three decades now.
The actress had one of her meatiest storylines this year when she thought she killed Heather (Vail Bloom) and suffered hallucinations after the murder. It was later revealed that Sharon was framed.
The storyline earned Sharon Case a nomination in the Lead Actress category for the 2025 Daytime Emmys. She previously won Supporting Actress in 1999. The 2025 Daytime Emmys air on CBS on Friday, October 17.
She’s up against three of her Y&R costars. Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott,) Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson,) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers) are also nominated. General Hospital star Laura Wright (Carly) and Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) round out the Lead Actress nominations.
She Reveals Fear Of Being Fired
Despite being on The Young & The Restless for 30 years now, Sharon Case still worries about losing her job. She explained why to Soaps.com ahead of her milestone anniversary.
She admitted, “Actors think that [they’re getting cut] every single day, no matter what happens. Like, somebody breaks a nail, and you think, ‘That’s it, I’m getting fired!’”
But she has a philosophy to keep her going. My viewpoint was to just do my best at all times, then no matter what happens, you don’t have any regrets. You can’t have any,” she said.
Sharon Case Expresses Gratitude For Career
Before she was Sharon Newman, the actress appeared on General Hospital and As the World Turns. But she’s stayed at Y&R the longest.
“I’ve really grown as an actress from playing Sharon for so long and playing so many different sides to her. I couldn’t say I always felt this way throughout the years, but I do now feel like I could play anything. I wouldn’t have said that before,” she said about her years of playing the same character.
Nick and Sharon, or “Shick,” as fans call them, aren’t currently together on the daytime soap. But one fan wrote on social media that the fictional couple is “endgame” and should get back together.
Another fan added, “They have always been meant to be the Victor & Nikki replacement for the future of the show; the next long-term patriarch/matriarch relationship.”

I think she’s lost her edge and her recent acting concerning Noah just seems fake.
