Florida Nurses Shocked Over Largest Baby Delivered At Hospital
The birth of a new baby is wonderful news, but it can sometimes come with a big surprise. One woman in Florida learned this when her baby turned out to be the largest one ever delivered at the hospital she was at. The mother also shared an update on social media.
The Baby Was A Surprise For The Hospital, But The Mother Suspects What Might Have Happened
Daniella Hines was set to give birth to her new baby in early September. To help deliver her baby, she was receiving care from BayCare’s St. Joseph Hospital-South in Riverview, Florida.
On September 3, Daniella welcomed a new baby boy into the world: her son, Annan. However, it came with a surprise for the hospital.
According to Today, Annan weighed around 13 pounds, 15 ounces, said to be nearly twice the size of an average newborn. As the hospital’s media relations department shared, he is believed to be the largest baby delivered at the hospital.
For Daniella, however, she suspects genetics played a part. Both she and her husband, Andre Sr. are both tall. She’s 6 ft. and he is taller than her by two inches. Meanwhile, Annan’s brother, Andre Jr., reportedly weighed around 12 pounds, 11 ounces.
During the pregnancy, Daniella was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, meaning her glucose levels had to be controlled. The condition has been noted to cause unusually large babies. She also shared she felt a strange sensation as Annan was being delivered.

Daniella shared, “I remember thinking, ‘What are they pulling out of me?’ What is going on here?’ I felt so much pressure.” After her son was born, she noted, “He was so big. I was like, ‘Whose baby is this? He came out of me?’ Then everybody starts coming in because it’s not every day you see an almost 14 pound baby pop out. He was like a little celebrity.”
The proud mother added, “I can’t wait to show him when he gets older: ‘Look you were in the news!'”
On September 8, Daniella took to Instagram to share an update over her son. Surprised he had become a “baby celebrity,” “Annan is doing fine. We’ve been home a couple days getting into a routine that fits. He is doing what newborns do and that’s demand a lot of attention.” She added, “Now the focus is on making sure he stays healthy and taking back all these small clothes and size newborn/number 1 diapers that won’t fit.”
At the time, Daniella noted that she was in recovery following the birth. She noted, “He is my second born by C-Section due to high risk and weight. This time hit a little different, but I am slowly getting back to feeling like myself. I thank God for covering us through the surgical procedure.”

my son was 10 lbs 10 oz when he was born 30 years ago. he was the talk of the hospital until there was an 11 lb baby born.
My first born weighed 13 lbs. 11 oz. and was was 26 inches long. The tape measure was only 24 inches, they had to add another tape measure to it to measure my baby. Biggest baby born in HighlandsCounty, Florida. I gained 23 lbs. and no diabetes. I did have a C-Section? My second baby was 11 lbs, 8 oz. and 23 inches.
What a beautiful blessing he is. If I could only get my hands on him…
