Bringing Up Bates Star Lawson Bates Pursues A Career In Music
Lawson has been working on his career as a country music and gospel singer since he was a child. Fans were first introduced to him when he was on the TLC series Bringing Up Bates with his family. Lawson is active on social media, where he shares his music with fans. Bates has two albums and various singles that feature country and gospel songs. The reality star shared his thoughts on being a solo artist. He said:
“With music, it has been different; it’s not me with the Bates family. It’s make it or break it based on my music strictly. That is a little scary, especially when you’re writing country music, you share a lot of your heart.”
Lawson Bates often performs at children’s hospitals. He explained to fans why he felt the work was important to him. He said:
“It’s something that I look forward to. I’ll just kind of go room to room, or sometimes I’ll get a group. I’ve made so many friends over there.”

Bringing Up Bates star Lawson Bates has used his music to support other causes. His single “I Thought I Had Problems,” which he released in 2015, was released to help raise awareness and support for global disaster relief. Lawson released a single in 2016 titled “I Will Always” that hit number 46 on iTunes country charts, and was number 1 on Amazon traditional country charts. His most popular song, “Past the Past”, features Sadie Robertson from the A&E show Duck Dynasty.
Fans Trash Lawson Bates Singing Ability, Claim His Family Lied To Him
Not everyone thinks that Lawson should be pursuing a career in the music industry. Fans recently reposted the reality stars Instagram reel, and dropped their thoughts on the artist’s performance. Many fans felt like Lawson’s family is lying to him about his abilities. They felt that Lawson should step away from the music industry and pursue a career in a different field. Fans criticized the singers voice, saying:
- “I feel terrible in saying this, but whoever encouraged this man to invest in singing as a career is either tone deaf or a liar. He is just not good. He gives enthusiasm but also cringe and awkwardness. He also looks tiny in a not good way.”
- “Probably because he was the reason the family was able to buy groceries before the tv money came in”
- “He’s not a terrible songwriter, if you like corny, cheesy God music. But as a singer he is abysmal.”
- “He’s average, in my opinion. Good enough for a church solo, but definitely not a professional career. Someone lied!”
- “You would think after 10+ plus years of trying to be a professional singer that his singing would improve. But it hasn’t.”

Fans think that Lawson should focus on songwriting and not singing. Some felt that he only was able to continue in the music industry because his family was famous. One fan pointed out that Lawson’s own mother admitted to this, saying:
“I’m rewatching Bringing Up Bates and when he goes to Nashville to record even his own mother says “It’s not always about talent or hard work, although he did work hard. Sometimes you get farther with connections. It’s all about who you know.” I love how honest she was about this opportunity only being available due to their fame at the time.”
