When The View began in 2007, it had a much more light-hearted feel than it does today. The show is reportedly on the verge of cancellation after viewers tire of the constant political debates. One way to revive the show to its glory days could be to bring back Joy Behar’s Comedy Corner segment. Keep reading to find out more about the possible move that could save the show.

Joy Behar’s Comedy Corner On The View

The View is currently airing reruns as the panelists and viewers take a breather for a much-needed summer break. The daytime talk show was the center of cancellation rumors days before Joy Behar announced they were going on summer break a little early this year.

The calls to cancel the show came from the highest office in the country – the White House. President Donald Trump suggested that ABC should cancel the show following news that CBS canceled Stephen Colbert’s late-night show.

The View is expected to return for a new season in early September. But unless the topics become less political, viewers fear the show won’t stay on the air much longer. When Barbara Walters created The View in 2007, it was meant to offer different views and perspectives.

While the current panel doesn’t align politically, the tone of the show is anti-conservative and especially anti-Trump. The show has almost become an echo chamber where differing opinions aren’t welcomed. But one fan thinks bringing some humor back to the show could be what it needs to save The View from cancellation.

After all, both Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg had careers in comedy before the show. The ABC talk show used to have a segment called Joy Behar’s Comedy Corner that featured established and emerging comedians. Some of the guests included Sebastian Maniscalco, Cedric the Entertainer, Jim Gaffigan, and Craig Shoemaker.

It’s unclear why The View scrapped the segment.

Is The Popular Segment Coming Back For Season 29?

One fan of The View asked on social media if Joy Behar’s Comedy Corner might come back for Season 29. It would be a great way to give the show a lighter vibe with all the heavy news and political discourse.

While one fan suggested that the producers wouldn’t let Joy bring the segment back, other fans loved the idea. Check out what they had to say:

  • “I’d even pay to watch Joy. Weekend View is where Joy shines the most”
  • “I miss the entertainment based episodes. Sometimes a Trump free day is a blessing.”
  • “Bring it back. Highlight young talent!”
  • “I love the political discussions. But, I would like one day a week designated as a non-political zone.”

But not everyone wants to see more of Joy Behar on The View. One fan of the show wrote, “I don’t know how it would work well. Joy seems completely checked out of pop culture and the general culture of today.”

As the show nears its 30th anniversary, viewers hope ABC pulls out all the stops to honor The View. Do you want to see Joy Behar’s Comedy Corner return? Sound off in the comments.
