‘The Voice’ Coach Sued For Trying To Help Hurricane Victims
As much as fans of The Voice love the coaches on the show, being in the public eye is tricky to navigate at times. It turns out, one of the coaches was sued for trying to help hurricane victims. So, what happened with this situation, and what do we know about it so far?
The Voice: Fans Love All Of The Coaches On The Show
The celebrity coaches on The Voice are a huge part of what keeps viewers glued to the show. There is usually a slightly different lineup each season when it comes to which coaches will be seated in the red chairs, and who will be coming back is always something that fans of the show are curious about.
As an example, Season 28 of The Voice will feature Michael Buble, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg. Season 28 of the popular reality singing competition will premiere this upcoming season in September of 2025. So, this is certainly something for fans of the program to look forward to. As fans have seen, the coaches for Season 29 have also been revealed, including Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine.
Coach Under Fire After Major Mistake, What Happened?
With as much as The Voice fans love the famous coaches who show up with each new season, one of the coaches found themselves in hot water after trying to help hurricane victims. So, what happened with this situation? It turns out, Adam Levine was sued over a social media post seeking donations to help hurricane victims of Hurricane Dorian in 2019.
In his post, Adam included a video showing the hurricane’s damage in the Bahamas. However, the copyright owner alleges that the Maroon 5 singer did not get permission to use this video footage in his post. A federal copyright infringement lawsuit was filed on July 28 over the incident by Global Weather Productions LLC, a video licensing company.
The Voice: What’s Happening Now With This Legal Situation?
The company alleges that it owns the footage in question, which was originally published by a professional storm chaser named Michael Brandon Clement on September 3, 2019.
It has been alleged that Adam Levine included the footage in a carousel post urging his millions of followers to donate to disaster relief. The issue, according to Global Weather Productions LLC, is that Levine didn’t buy a license for the video.
The LLC went on to add, “As a musician and author, defendant has significant experience in copyright matters and is familiar with specific practices including the need to ensure that content used in his posts has been properly licensed. As a content creator himself, defendant should be particularly sensitive to the unauthorized use of his works.”
So far, Adam Levine’s reps have not commented on this situation, as it will certainly be one to watch.
