The View has dominated ABC’s daytime time slot for almost thirty years. The show, created by ABC news journalist Barbara Walters, debuted in 1997. At the time, it was unique to have a talk show hosted with only female co-hosts. Joy Behar is the only current co-host left from the original lineup. Actress and comedian Whoopi Goldberg has served as the show’s moderator since 2007. She recently spoke out about the possibility of retiring.

The View is airing reruns for the rest of the summer amid a spat with the White House and President Trump. But viewers are unhappy with the reruns the network is airing. Keep reading to find out why.

The View On Break Amid Cancellation Rumors

It was announced earlier this month that the CBS late-night show, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, has been canceled. It will go off the air in 2026. The news came as a shock to viewers. However, one person was happy with the news – President Donald Trump. He celebrated the news on Truth Social and said he hoped the other late-night shows would be next.

Stephen Colbert is one of Trump’s biggest critics. But he’s not the only one. Many daytime and primetime talk shows discuss politics because it brings in viewers.

In another post, Trump set his sights on The View. Shortly after he publicly hoped the ABC talk show would be canceled, Joy Behar accidentally revealed that the show was going on pause.

Longtime viewers know that The View co-hosts take the summer off every year, as well as the Fourth of July holiday. However, the announcement sparked cancellation rumors because of the timing of the pre-scheduled hiatus.

Viewers Disgusted With Network’s Rerun Choices

The current co-hosts of The View are Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.

The ladies will be on summer break until The View returns on Monday, September 2nd. But the show won’t be off the air all summer. ABC is airing reruns of past shows in the show’s normal timeslot. However, some viewers aren’t interested in seeing the old episodes where the hosts discuss topics that aren’t current.

One disgruntled fan wrote on social media, “If I’ve already seen the live show, I usually have zero interest in seeing a stale re-run.” Many other viewers felt the same.

Some even suggested better ideas for what ABC could air instead of reruns. One fan suggested, “I personally wouldn’t mind seeing a “repeat” episode with certain guests like a Broadway guest or big celebrity like Dolly Parton.”

Another pointed out, “Jimmy Kimmel gets celebrity hosts when he vacations, I mean that could also be a thing for the month of August if they wanted.”

Let us know in the comments if you’re watching the reruns or will tune out until The View returns in September.
