‘Mama June’ Preview: Emotional Josh Efird Is Officially Done
In a preview for the Mama June: Family Crisis season finale, an emotional Josh Efird is officially done. The now father of five has been struggling to come to terms with the end of his marriage. Yet, it seems he has finally found his way and is moving on. Keep reading for more details.
Emotional Josh Efird Officially Done
This season of Mama June: Family Crisis saw the demise of Pumpkin and Josh Efird’s marriage. She finally told him she was done with the relationship and wanted a divorce. Moreover, Pumpkin stated that she had been struggling for a very long time with her husband. They married too young, and it was never the same after they started having kids. This was hard for Pumpkin’s sister, Alana Thompson, to take as she looked up to Josh like a father. To see her role model couple calling it quits was a bitter pill to swallow.
Pumpkin has since moved on with Josh’s cousin, Darrin Kitchens, and that has been an odd twist. Regardless, Josh has been trying to show Pumpkin he still cares by bringing her flowers. Now that he has learned from her sister, Jessica Shannon, that she is with Darrin, his mindset has shifted. In the clip from the Friday, July 25th episode of Family Crisis, Josh has called his mother. He has opted to pack up everything from the home, and Pumpkin shared, but does not want their kids around. Therefore, his mom will take them for the time being.

Josh Efird grabs a trash bag and stands in their old bedroom with tears coming as he puts his hands to his face. The Mama June star is struggling with letting go, but knows that it is time. He reflects on all the memories the couple had made and then writes Pumpkin a note. Josh wants her to know he is done for good, and cannot believe she had lied to him. Finally, he shares that the kids are with their grandma, he is packing, and is gone.
Team Josh
After Mama June fans saw this go down, they were team Josh all the way. They could not believe how cruel Pumpkin Efird was and how she let a good man go. Of course, no one has walked in their shoes, so what went down behind closed doors is unknown. Regardless, viewers are absolutely heartbroken for Josh:
- I am SO sorry Josh. I am so disappointed in Lauryn’s decisions -divorcing you and dating someone in your family.
- Huge mistake on Pumpkin..this guy is such a hard worker..she’s messed up like her mother..from what we saw- he wasn’t lazy and helped at home with kids
Many felt that Pumpkin would see that she made a huge mistake in the long run, as Josh was always there for her and the kids. He has since moved on and welcomed his fifth child, while Pumpkin and Darrin are going strong.

Glad that Josh has moved on because he deserves better and can do a thousand times better. It’s rare to see a man that truly loves his wife and wants to make his marriage work. It was heart wrenching to see his pain, especially in front of an audience. It was a horrible, disgusting way for him to have heard about her dating in record time and to hear WHO she was dating. I wish him the best of luck.
I’m really sorry for Josh all of this has gone down the way it has, and for Pumpkin to be dating, and now living, with a family member of his makes me wonder. Of course you never know what goes on behind closed doors either. I know Josh put up with a LOT my husband would have never put up with – her family and four kids in quick succession. I’m glad he’s moved on, but I cannot understand why he’s had yet another child. They can get very expensive, quickly. Then again, Josh wants what he really never had as a child: A solid family relationship. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has another child either, just because of that.
