Katie Thurston is still coming to terms with her diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer. The Bachelorette star was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year after finding a lump in her breast. She opened up about feeling over-medicated but also considering antidepressants.

The Latest Developments In Katie Thurston’s Cancer Battle

Katie Thurston’s life was turned upside down in January. She sought medical treatment after finding a lump in her breast. The results were not great news. She was initially diagnosed with an aggressive Stage 3 breast cancer. The Bachelorette star was about to start chemotherapy.

But her cancer journey was about to take a drastic turn. She was relocating from California to New York City around the time of the initial diagnosis. The move meant finding new doctors because traveling back and forth for treatment wasn’t an option.

Her new team of doctors did a PET scan, which the earlier hospital didn’t do. The PET scan revealed the cancer had spread to the liver. After some tests, they also discovered that the cancer was actually Stage 4. However, the doctors didn’t think chemotherapy was the right treatment option.

Katie Thurston has been on a regimen of oral medications since March/April. She had an MRI and PET scan done earlier this month to see if the treatment is working yet.

She revealed the happy news on social media that the treatment is working and her tumors have shrunk.

Katie Thurston Requests Fundraising Ideas

Katie Thurston’s battle with breast cancer has really only begun. She’s used her social media platform to spread awareness about the reality of Stage 4 cancer. She’s made it clear to her followers that there is no cure, and she’ll be fighting cancer for the rest of her life. She hopes it’s a long life, but nothing is certain with cancer.

She has also found comfort in talking to other breast cancer survivors. The Bachelorette star created the Boobie Broadcast channel on Instagram to interact with survivors and share updates about her cancer journey.

In one recent post, she put out a request to brainstorm ideas on an acronym or slogan for those who are “thriving with metastatic breast cancer.” She called it a fundraising effort.

Bachelorette Star Feels Over-Medicated, Considering Antidepressants

The biggest thing Katie Thurston encourages is for her followers to be their own advocates when it comes to their health. In another Boobie Broadcast update, she revealed that she’s considering going on antidepressants amid the cancer fight.

She’s been open about how the diagnosis and side effects from the treatment have negatively affected her life. She used her trademark humor to joke about how she has to take medication to save her life, but the medication is hurting her at the same time.

She’s considering the antidepressants to help with her mood up and downs, as well as the hot flashes. The hormone-blocking injections she takes to prevent the cancer from spreading forced her into early menopause.

Do you think she should try antidepressants or another way to ease the symptoms?
