This sounds fun and novel, but not everyone who has followed them feels the same way. That is because the show will feature a same-sex couple, Jason and Joe Hanna-Riggs, from Texas. They have two sons and will be featured along with two other couples, taking it back in time. For Jason, he saw that they were seeking out same-sex couples and believed this would be a great way to offer exposure to the community. However, it is not landing well given that Chip and Joanna have openly spoken about their faith.

They attend Antioch Community Church, an evangelical church, and because of that, they are receiving an immense amount of backlash. The American Family Association spoke out against Chip and Joanna Gaines’ new series, saying:

“This is sad and disappointing, because Chip and Joanna Gaines have been very influential in the evangelical community.”

Billy Graham’s son, Franklin, also spoke up against the series. He stated that it was “disappointing,” and went on to clarify the belief that: “His Word is absolute truth. God loves us, and His design for marriage is between one man and one woman. Promoting something that God defines as sin is in itself sin.” One follower added that they “sold out” just for the all-mighty dollar.

Fans Speak Out

Some fans stated that Chip and Joanna Gaines have given up “traditional/biblical values.” They added that they had lost respect for the couple and would no longer support them in their endeavors. However, many saw the clips for Back to the Frontier and admired what they were doing. They loved the concept and could not wait for more episodes to air. The cast was billed as “brave,” and it was an adventure with a twist, which fans deeply appreciated. Chip and Joanna Gaines will keep on going and do not appear to be letting the backlash get to them. Rather, they love the series and are ready for more.

  1. It isn’t even really a new show or concept. There have been shows based on the same premise every few years. It’s good they’re branching out since do many seem to be long tired of her saccharine, simpering personality and his ridiculous man child antics. I watched Fixer Upper for a while until I got tired. of his antics and her constant one note designs all featuring – surprise – shiplap. They really are together and individually insufferable and could disappear without my notice.

  2. Everybody talks about the Bible and God and none of them really go by the word God loves everybody. He is an inclusive accepting God anyway, that’s my God who is a loving God who, except everybody after all, he did create us in his own image so we are all What God wanted us to be y’all pick and choose whatever you want out of the Bible it doesn’t matter who raises the family as long as there’s love and support which we need a lot more of instead of the hate I like Joanne and Chip and I think that they’re doing what’s right for them and they’re being intruder to themselves not too many people can admit to that my opinion

    1. Picking and choosing how about you read it!!

For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

Mark 10:6-9 ~ But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh.
