‘American Idol’ Judge Loses Voice, Refunds Entire Concert Audience

One of the judges from American Idol got into some trouble as they tried to showcase their own musical talents on stage. Despite what happened, the judge wanted to make it up to fans, even refunding the show. On social media, fans have also been sharing clips from the show on social media.
American Idol Judges Often Know Firsthand That A Career In Music Isn’t Always Easy
Over the years, fans have seen all sorts of personalities sit in the judges’ seats on American Idol. This has included pop singers, country stars, and record executives.
However, these judges haven’t given up on their own musical careers, either. They also know firsthand that a career in music isn’t always easy. In fact, one American Idol judge recently made headlines after a mishap during a recent show.
As noted by Parade, Luke Bryan recently hit the stage in Arkansas for a show planned for June 19, 2025. Unfortunately, Bryan’s voice started to go before he could finish the show.
On TikTok, a fan shared what Bryan did next in a video released on social media. In the caption, the fan wrote, “Luke Bryan refunded everyone’s ticket at his concert tonight because he didn’t have much of a voice!” Even if the audience was getting their money back, Bryan still lived up to the old adage that the “show must go on.” As the fan continued, “He kept singing and put on a great show!”
In the short clip, Bryan could be heard addressing the audience with a hoarse voice. On stage, he shared, “And I said. You know what, that’s pretty cool. So I don’t give a damn. I’m gonna refund everybody that bought tickets tonight.”
Fans Also Showed Concern For What This Means For Luke Bryan’s Upcoming Shows
After the audience broke out into applause, Bryan continued, “And we’re gonna keep doing the damn show. Okay? Because… We’re just gonna make this what it is. I don’t know why I have to do this every time. But, y’all can hear, so we’re gonna make the most of it. Let’s do it.”
Over the years, Bryan has established himself as a country singer in the early 2000s. The country singer has been part of American Idol since 2018. Most recently, he shared judging duties with Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood during Season 23 of the competition series.
In another uploaded clip, Bryan also explained who inspired him to refund the show. The American Idol judge even admitted that this has happened to him before. He continued, “I cannot have my voice in this venue for some reason! It happens every time; I don’t know why. But, you guys keep showing up year after year to see me put on a show, and you know, I saw Luke Combs do this a couple years ago when he was having a weird night on stage, and I said, ‘You know what, that’s pretty cool.’”
Taking to social media, fans also shared their own reactions to seeing Bryan perform. A few even admitted to being at the show or knowing people who were there. Some fans also showed concern for some of Bryan’s upcoming shows. A few comments included:
- “He BETTER be better for Dallas, Tx tomorrow night!!!!!!!”
- “We were there tonight! He still had a good show!!!”
- “I had tickets, but never went. It’s like I instinctively knew not to go. He was sick the last time he was here too.”
- “Hope he feels better for Saturday night show in Lafeyette.”
- “i was there last night, and even though he lost his voice the show was SO GOOD!”
