‘Bargain Block’ Canceled At HGTV
One of the stars of Bargain Block has recently shared some bad news for fans. The HGTV series is reportedly coming to an end. This also comes out amid the star revealing what it was like working on the show earlier this year.
Fans Have Been Tuning Into Bargain Block Since 2021
Bargain Block is a reality series that premiered on HGTV back in 2021. Couple Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas purchase, renovate, and design houses in Detroit.
Keith works with construction while Evan works on design. The two also often live in the houses as they gradually redesign them. Another cast member for the show is realtor Shea Hicks-Whitfield. In 2024, the series also saw a spin-off, Bargain Block: New Orleans.

Recently, however, Keith shared some bad news for fans of the show. According to TV Insider, Keith recently shared during an Instagram Story, “We do have a few more episodes coming out in August, actually starting on Evan’s birthday. But they are the remainder of Season 4 ’cause they did not renew the show for Season 5.”
Keith added that what was going on was “a long story.” He continued, “They originally greenlit it, and I guess that was back in December. Then they decided in February, after we got everything ready for Season 5, that they weren’t gonna do it.”
Keith added that the decision has had a financial impact on him and Evans. Saying the team was thrown into “a bit of a crazy financial tailspin,” he noted, “We’re doing client work and [have] got some other stuff going on… Oh, man. It’s been wild.”
HGTV & The Other Series’ Stars Haven’t Revealed Anything About The Show’s Fate
On its end, HGTV has not officially confirmed the cancelation of the series. Evan Thomas and Shea Hicks-Whitfield have also not spoken out about the show’s fate. This might give some fans hope for a last-second renewal.
Keith previously spoke about the show’s fate while speaking with the publication earlier this year. At the time, he revealed, “We just wrapped out – well, technically we’re still finishing one of the houses – but we’ll have more episodes airing in the fall back in Detroit.”

“We just finished another five [houses] in Detroit. Well, we’re actively finishing the fifth one. So we’re back in Detroit trying to just kind of make sure that we’ve got our footing there still. It’s kind of a balancing act, but it’s fun.”
At the time, Keith shared that working on the show entailed a “grueling schedule.” However, he assured that he and Evan were happy to work on the show. As he shared, “Last year was 42 weeks…You look up and you’re like, ‘Oh my goodness, the whole year is done.’”
At the time, Keith also touched on how he and Evan spend their downtime together. He shared, “I will say, the thing that has been our kind of refreshing force is just taking a minute to get back to plants and dirt and trees, and just hike for a little bit. Everywhere we go, if we’re near something that’s natural, we try to take a five-minute break to go do that.
“We miss Colorado a lot for that reason. It was easy to get to a mountain. Michigan also is fabulous, you can get to water in five minutes. Those are the types of things we do to balance out the hectic elements of our life. The Beaver Island house has calmed us down a lot. It’s incredibly peaceful, so that’s been great.”

I can not believe this, of all times to drop this fabulous show. Not good HGTV. You have been getting shows on now that middle Americans can not relate to, with hosts that are not viewer friendly. Thank goodness for the remote, it is and will be utilized to vote my preference.
This show was one of my favorites. They literally took lemons and transformed them into wonderful homes. I am so disappointed by the shows they have kept, that I doubt I will watch HGTV anymore.
HGTV Please, please reconsider cancelling Bargain Block. This is a great show because it takes really rundown properties and turn them into beautiful, well-built, affordable homes. We need to keep shows like this. They are making a huge difference in these communities.
I totally agree. This show was for people who needed real starter homes in areas that needed them.
Bargain block became the only show I watched on hgtv. Welp, bye.
I love Bargain Block!! Keith and Evan are so natural and not fake! I also love that they create affordable homes and not these over the top houses. Please reconsider renewing the show!
Bargain Block is a great show, especially for those who live in the Detroit area. Too bad.
I was so upset today to learn this show is canceled, one of my favorites on TV. It just does not make any sense to cancel it. I so looked forward to every new episode and love the cast and their mission. Dumb executive decision IMHO.
I have watched this show for years. I LOVE this show…its content is so wonderful, educational, inspirational,
pleasant and fun! Find a way to stay on TV!
Sincerely,
EM (senior person)
I’m shocked, this was my favorite show. I don’t know what HGTV is doing but I don’t think it’s good.
Does Bargain Block’s cancellation have anything to do with Donald Trump being elected? He and his administration are not friendly to the LGBTQ+ community. If HGTV is Trump friendly, that could be why my favorite show was cancelled.
I hate to see this show b canceled. it was a favorite of mine. The guys r so fun to watch n talented. It’s just a down to earth show to watch. PLEASE reconsider!!!!
PLEASE keep Bargain Block on HGTV. The most fun show on HGTV. It isn’t like ALL the other formats and all featured stars are absolutely real, hysterically funny and entertaining!! I really look forward to them.
I think I am done with HGTV. My favorite show is Bargain Block. I liked Izzy too.
