Mama June Shannon was in her early teens when she got pregnant by David Dunn with Anna Cardwell. He ended up living a very rough life that involved arrests and such. Many never knew who he was until Anna fell ill and decided to marry her longtime partner, Eldridge Toney. That was when she had her father walk her down the aisle. No one really knew much about him, and it was awkward for June, but this was a magical day for Anna, and that was all that mattered. After that, he was not seen again, but now it appears he wants to make an effort.
Kaitlyn is in Georgia with June, whereas Kylee is in Alabama with her father, Michael Cardwell. Anna has been gone since December 2023, so what has prompted David to reach out to the girls? That is unclear, but a message was posted about how he really wants to see his granddaughters, or have some communication with them. Allegedly, Kylee’s stepmother gave him a way to reach out, but June may be holding out. David supposedly stated that he thinks they are being kept away from him, as they would want to stay with their grandpa.
After this came out about Mama June’s ex, what did fans and followers say and think? Were they shocked that he would want contact, or were they happy? Kaitlyn and Kylee are David’s only connection to Anna. Therefore, wanting to be with them would make a lot of sense. He missed a lot of time with his daughter, so maybe he can make it up to her by being proactive with her girls. Fans felt bad for the girls more than anything else.

Those Poor Girls
After it came out that Anna Cardwell’s father was desperate to see his granddaughters, Mama June fans had a lot to say. They felt horrible for her girls, Kaitlyn and Kylee, as they have so much going on around them. Yet, they are not in contact, and so much has been ripped away. Now, they have a mystery grandfather who wants a relationship with them, but it is a very tricky situation:
