‘Bachelorette’ Jason Tartick Defends Sending Dog Away
If you don’t think a dog could cause drama, you don’t know Bachelor Nation very well. Bachelorette alum Jason Tartick adopted a new dog earlier this year. He previously shared two rescue Golden Retrievers, Pinot, and Ramen, with ex-fiance Kaitlyn Bristowe. They tried to share custody after they ended their engagement. However, it became too much for the dogs, and Kaitlyn kept them at her house all of the time instead of joint custody.
But Jason Tartick missed having a four-legged friend. He adopted a rescue dog from the non-profit organization Wags & Walks. He shared on social media that he chose the name Teddy for the dog, sparking more drama with his ex. According to Kaitlyn Bristowe, “Teddy” was the name she chose for her future child. She claimed her ex knew that but used the name to spite her.
Shortly after adopting Teddy, Jason Tartick said goodbye to the dog for a month. He sent the rescue pup for training. He defended the decision after backlash.
Jason Tartick Reveals Shocking Dog Breeds In Mixed Rescue
Jason Tartick was finally reunited with his beloved dog after weeks away from each other. He sent the dog away to a training facility in April, just two months after adopting him. He revealed at the time that Teddy had a tendency to be reactive. So, he wanted to get the dog trained for safety reasons.
At first glance, Teddy seems to be a Golden Retriever like Kaitlyn Bristowe’s two dogs. However, he’s a lot more than meets the eye. Jason Tartick had the dog’s DNA tested before sending him to training. He said that knowing the breed would help training because certain dog breeds are known to have certain traits and characteristics.
The DNA results revealed that Teddy Tartick is way more than just a Golden Retriever. He has a mix of sixteen different dog breeds in his DNA. While the Bachelorette star didn’t list them all, he revealed that the different breeds included Great Pyrenees, German Shepherd, Anatolian Shepherd, and Chow Chow.
Bachelorette Alum Defends Sending Teddy Away
After more than a month separated, Jason Tartick was finally reunited with his dog over the weekend. He shared snapshots from the reunion on Instagram. Fans couldn’t get enough of Teddy smiling with his eyes closed while hugging his dad.
Jason Tartick defended sending him away. “Given his past, with abuse and neglect, addressing his reactivity was so important to his happiness and safety,” he wrote on the post.
The reality star added, “After training, his peace of mind with other people, dogs and even moving objects like cars and bikes is truly a dream.”

Several fans took to the comments to praise Jason Tartick for putting his dog’s well-being first. One follower wrote, “Training is so important!! So glad you see you advocating for this on your platform.”
Another added, “You’re the best dog Dad! So many people refuse to go down this path of training for non-other then selfish reasons and you choose his happiness above yours which in turn will make you both happier and more confident in the long run.”
