Hallmark’s long-running series When Calls The Heart has started production on Season 13. However, that does not seem to be what Hearties want to talk about on social media. Here is the latest of a string of historical inaccuracies that these fans have pointed out. This goes from Little Jack’s diabetes to failing to mention WWl.

What is upsetting these superfans now?

Heartie Asks ‘What’s Up With The Lashes?’

When Calls The Heart fans enjoy talking about the series on social media. However, the repeated topic has been about historical accuracy. In a post that was titled, “What’s up with the lashes?”

Did a rewatch to catch up and just started s12 today. What’s happening with the lashes?? I love how they gently shift the wardrobe towards 1920’s America. But the lashes and eyebrows?? OMG. They throw me off and I hate that, this is supposed to be my guilty pleasure show 🙁

There were a few varied responses, here is what other Hearties had to say.

  • Just ignore it! I had to when they the entire town had perfectly curled hair pre the salon on a regular day 😂
  • I think the hair and makeup has always been historically inaccurate on this show. I’m so used to it that I don’t pay attention to that anymore.
  • Changes have been happening rapidly, they went from being pretty close to accurate with the bad wigs and modesty to something polar opposite now.

Many fans just grin and bear it. They advised the poster to not allow this to upset them. However, several sources state that mascara was available during this time. Would schoolteachers wear makeup? It seems doubtful as she lives in a rural community. But, women did wear makeup during this era.

Hallmark Stars Getting Fitted For Upcoming Season

When Calls The Heart Season 13 starts production on July 1. However, according to the show’s costume designer, Barbara Gregusova, who went on Instagram, several cast members have already come in for costumer fittings.

For example, last year Andrea Brooks was pregnant. As with others who came in to get fitted, she has a rack just for her wardrobe. This year, she is able to pick from her pre-pregnancy wardrobe. The costume designer may need to make some changes to fit with the 20s-themed workshops.

This means that her skirts can go up to fit the 1920s era that Hope Valley is in now. This also means new shoes and a new hairstyle. Gregusova will be looking for certain colors for the leads to wear. It also means that her wardrobe may need some freshening up with a few new pieces.

While the series may not be historically accurate, the costumes help Hearties feel the spirit of the era.

When Calls The Heart Season 13 will premiere on the Hallmark Channel sometime in 2026. Hearties, do you have the same gripes as these posters? Do you get bothered with historical inaccuracies?
