‘Today’ Al Roker Shares His Grief Over Tragic Death
Following the news of a recent passing, journalist Al Roker fame recently shared a loving tribute on social media. This also isn’t the first time Roker has talked about the news. Following Roker’s post, fans have also been sending their condolences following the recent tragedy.
A Recent Tragedy Was Recently Announced On Today
During a recent episode of Today, the co-anchors had revealed a recent tragedy on the show. The co-anchors visibly fought back tears as they explained the story and talked about the deceased.
Following this announcement, many of the Today co-hosts talked about the news on social media and shared their condolences. This included Al Roker, who has been part of Today for years.
This past Friday, the co-hosts announced the recent passing of Uche Ojeh, the spouse of co-host Sheinelle Jones. Savannah Guthrie was the first to break the news, sharing that Ojeh had passed on after dealing with brain cancer. He was 45 at the time of his death.
In the months leading up to his death, Jones had taken a leave of absence from the series, keeping the situation private. During this time, Jones’ co-hosts often shared their love with Jones on the show and noted that they still kept in touch.
Since the news of Uche’s passing was announced, Al Roker recently took to social media to share his condolences. He recently shared a carousel post featuring images of him with Uche and Sheinelle, as well as photos of the couple together.
In the caption, Roker wrote, “I could not bring myself to write these words. I knew this day was coming and yet, for someone, like our brother Uche Ojeh, husband of our dear sister @sheinelle_o , to be gone seems incomprehensible. But [I will] remember, his love for Sheinelle; his 3 beautiful children, his faith, his humor and his smile.”
Al Roker & His Co-Hosts Also Talked About What Uche Ojeh Was Like On The Show
Roker also talked about Ojeh during a segment on the Today show. He described him as “a very private guy.” He also recounted attending a wedding with him, noting that Uche was “quiet, but yet the life of the party and just such an intelligent, smart, faithful man.”
Uche’s passing certainly had an impact on the Today family, with many of the co-hosts talking about him on the show and on social media. For example, Savannah Guthrie also praised Ojeh on the show. As she shared, “Uche has so many friends, college friends, friends from their time in Philadelphia, friends who have surrounded the family during this time.”

Taking to the comments, many fans also shared their own condolences to the news on Roker’s post. A few fans also praised the way the network has paid tribute to Ojeh. Some comments included:
