‘GMA’ Michael Strahan Opens Up About His Unexpected Career
Good Morning America anchor Michael Strahan recently talked about his unexpected career and where it has taken him. He’s had a pretty exciting and very successful life so far. Good Morning America Anchor Michael Strahan Talks About Career
Michael Strahan and the rest of the Good Morning America crew were recently honored at the 2025 Paley Honors Spring Gala in New York City. The popular morning talk show is celebrating its 50th year on air.
All three main anchors expressed how much they love being a part of GMA. Michael especially said his landing this gig was very unexpected. Strahan has said that being a part of the legacy that Good Morning America brings still feels very surreal.
Michael, along with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, accepted the award for the long-running talk show. George said, “I never could have imagined that I would ever be a part of Good Morning America, that I would be anchor on GMA.”
Strahan joked back and said, “George, if you thought you were amazed you had this job, a few years ago I was wearing tights and running into grown men.” Everyone laughed at the comment.
After having a co-hosting job with Kelly Ripa on Live! with Kelly and Michael, he joined GMA in 2016. Of course, his first career was being a very successful NFL football player with the New York Giants.
He’s actually currently hinting at wanting to be a limited partner with the Giants football organization.
He’s A Relatable Person
Who would have thought this big, strong NFL player would have such success on daytime television? Michael Strahan has pulled it off, and fans love him. People love him for his ability to always be genuine.
He has interviewed world leaders, orchestrated a live wedding, and shared his daughter Isabella’s battle with brain cancer. Fans can count on him to show up just being himself, which is a dad, a journalist, a defensive end, and a teammate.
It was noted at the awards ceremony that “[Michael], who brings the joy to the mornings and who, like Robin, witnessed a personal battle within his own family – Isabella – these last couple of years.”
Strahan always shows humility, and fans see it every day. Michael remains loved by all who know him. It became even more apparent that it is true based on the amount of applause he received at the Paley Honors.
Just like everyone else, Michael has endured some tough times. His most recent difficult time was supporting his daughter through brain cancer. He was with her and offering encouragement all the time.
