Sister Wives Janelle Brown Symbolically Offers Kody Grace

Over the last three episodes, Sister Wives has paid tribute to Garrison Brown after he passed in March 2024. It recounted his struggles, when they began, what his triggers were, and more. Furthermore, it showcased his family learning that he had taken his own life, which was traumatic. Eventually, it was time to prepare to bury Garrison, and Kody Brown wanted to take him home to Wyoming. This was where his family’s ranch is and where his father and Janelle Brown’s mother are buried. Janelle allowed Kody, Robyn, and their five kids to take Garrison on a “pilgrimage” to his final resting place.

Kody was even able to dig his son’s grave with the help of his brother and brother-in-law. When the family gathered at the gravesite, Kody sat at the edge of the grave. He was going to be the one who put the urn in the ground, but Janelle held it first. She then handed it off to him and said it just made sense, as Janelle had handed Kody their son after he was born. So, it was a full-circle moment for the parents, as she handed him off in death.

One Sister Wives fan added this regarding Janelle Brown allowing Kody to dig Garrison’s grave:

  • but I did think there was something in the way that Janelle said it was symbolic and poetic that Kody “dig the hole“…not carry him home or gentler words.

She knew how badly Garrison just wanted to be loved by Kody, and now it was far too late. It had been stated that Kody was estranged from his son when he passed, which was completely devastating.

Fans Are Torn

After seeing Janelle Brown handing Kody Brown the urn, many Sister Wives fans were amazed by her strength. Yet, she shared that, in the moment, she put all of the drama with Kody behind her. They were just two grieving parents who had lost a son, and this was how it would end. Viewers had a lot of feelings about why Janelle handed off the urn, many saw its symbolism. They brought him into the world together, and now they are returning him as one. Not everyone saw it this way:

  • The sad part is the symbolism is probably that the actual Cody is the one who added the most stress to this boy
  • Janelle should have laid her son to rest, the one who has always been beside him😞
  • If you’ve never had parental estrangement, you don’t understand the daily struggle of abandonment, shame and rejection. Add all of that with ongoing depression and anxiety, and you’ve set the stage for a horrible ending.
