The envelope was opened, and Ryan took a long, dramatic pause before reading the name written on the card. Fans went to social media to discuss the final minutes of the show and the reaction they saw from John.
Many think that John saw the card and knew before Ryan spoke that he wasn’t the winner. Some even commented they saw a smirk on his face when he read the name listed. Jamal Roberts won the title of American Idol 2025.
TV Insider caught up with John following the show to see what he had to say about it. Foster said he barely noticed what was on the card. He said, “I was in a total blur. I knew I was at peace with being runner-up. Jamal is such an incredible performer. I was at peace. I really was. It’s a true honor to be runner-up.”
