‘Wheel’ Viewers Feel That Ryan Seacrest Needs To Be Quiet
Why do Wheel of Fortune viewers feel that host Ryan Seacrest needs to be quiet? He seems to be doing a very good job in place of Pat Sajak, so what is the issue with him now? Keep reading for more on what viewers are saying about Ryan.
Wheel Of Fortune Viewers Want Ryan Seacrest Silenced
Ryan Seacrest took over Wheel of Fortune in the fall of 2024 after Pat Sajak announced his retirement. Some were not so sure that he was the right fit, given that he was overexposed. He was the host of American Idol, had his own radio show, and was on Live with Kelly for several years. They felt that someone new should take over the reins, but in the end, Ryan has won many fans over. He even has a great dynamic with Vanna White, who has been on the show for forty years. Yet, some viewers want Ryan to just be quiet.

He is not going anywhere, and neither is Vanna, who signed a contract through 2026. However, one big problem that viewers have with Ryan and his WoF hosting is that he talks too much. They feel that the intros are way longer than when Pat was in charge, roughly six to seven minutes. He is very invested in the contestants’ backstories, which is a sweet thing. Moreover, Ryan is used to getting to know people through his time hosting Idol. Unfortunately, viewers just want the game show to start.

The whole purpose of Wheel of Fortune is to solve puzzles, get letters, and buy vowels. Learning complete life stories is not necessarily why viewers tune in five nights a week:
- The main reason I record the show—so I can fast forward through all the intros. So boring. I watch to solve puzzles, not hear about your collection of cow pies or how many kids you have with “J” names
This sentiment has been echoed many times, and it has not gotten better.
Shut Up, Ryan
Unfortunately, Wheel of Fortune viewers are very expressive about their disdain for the chit chat. Granted, they do like Ryan Seacrest, but this is one aspect that they can do without:
- It does feel like they’re giving the contestants considerably more time for their introductions this season
- I thought they seemed longer now too. I rarely listened to the contestant entros before and definitely not now.
- Definitely longer now, approaching Jeopardy level of nonsense spewed about each contestant. I just showed my fiance a Pat episode from 2007 to show him how quick they used to be haha
More so, Pat Sajak cut to the chase, and toward the end, he was not well received by fans. They found him rude and abrupt, feeling that it was time he retired and moved on. However, there are some Wheel of Fortune faithful who do not mind Ryan taking extra time with the contestants. His chatting and getting to know people is sweet and allows for a more conversational tone.
