Sweet Reason Derek Hough Didn’t Celebrate His Birthday

Sweet Reason Derek Hough Didn’t Celebrate His Birthday
On May 17th, 2025, Derek Hough hit a milestone in his life. The DWTS judge turned forty years old, which is a huge deal for anyone. Since he has so much love in his life, it would seem that he would want to have the best time to honor this occasion. As it turned out, he chose to act like the day never happened. So, what was the reason behind it? As it turned out, Derek was focusing on helping others have better lives rather than his birthday celebration. He has been known to be a good would, and he just reaffirmed that.
Derek headed to Orlando, Florida, for Runway to Hope, which helps children battling cancer. He shared this via his social media as fans were asking what he was doing to celebrate forty. Derek let them know that he was doing charity work, as that seemed much more important. The fact that he consistently cares more for others than himself is why people love him. When his wife, Hayley, was sick, he was by her side all the way. They even celebrated with a beautiful dance on DWTS that made everyone emotional.

In Derek Hough’s birthday statement, he shared this:
“I have a lot of people asking me if I’m having a big party tonight for my 40th birthday, and the truth is I am, but not for me. Tonight is about this amazing event that I’m hosting called Runway to Hope. It’s for kids that have cancer, battling cancer. And we’re here to raise money to help, to serve them and their families, so it’s an honor to be able to be here tonight. It’s a privilege to be here in Orlando, Florida to do something meaningful and to give back in some way for this milestone birthday, and then we’ll get to celebrating in a different way later on, but for now? Let’s go raise some money for some kids.”
He did note that they will have some sort of party down the line, but for now, the focus was on the children. When the event did happen, he wanted to raise as much as he could. More so, Derek noted that he was tearing up as he was watching what was happening.

After learning how Derek Hough celebrated his birthday, fans were thrilled. They saw his name on the Runway to Hope site and how he would be co-hosting the big event. Immediately, everyone chimed in to lend support:

Derek did repost many birthday tributes that were sent out to him and appreciated all of the love. As for what kind of party he will have after the fact, that will be exciting to see. He just has a handful of months before he returns to the DWTS judge’s table, so he needs to make the most of everything.
