‘Love Island’ Star Brutally Assaults Woman In Front Of Child

A former contestant who appeared on Love Island is reportedly on the run from the law. The star had allegedly attacked a woman in front of her own son. A friend of the alleged victim also spoke out about the story on social media.

A Former Love Island USA Contestant Is Facing Felony & Misdemeanor Charges In Utah

The Love Island franchise started with the British reality series of the same name. In the series, a group of contestants, or “Islanders,” who live in a remote area couple up in order to win. Ultimately, after recoupling and eliminations, the public votes for the couple they want to win.

The series has seen many international versions come out over the years, such as Love Island USA. In fact, the 2015 British series was itself a revival of an earlier 2005 series.

According to The U.S. Sun, Cashel Barnett, a former contestant on Love Island USA, has recently gotten into legal trouble. Barnett appeared during the show’s first season and was “dumped” by Day 17.

The former contestant has been charged with felony domestic violence in Utah. Back in late April, a woman had contacted the Salt Lake City Police that she had been abused by Barnett.

Since then, Barnett has received a few felony charges. This includes two third-degree felonies, aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child. He has also been charged with two counts of assault, which as class B misdemeanors.

According to court documents, the Love Island contestant’s alleged actions caused concern. As it reported, “Injuries related to strangulation can be serious, yet not necessarily apparent.” The statement also continued, “Victims who have been non-fatally strangled are 7.5 times more likely to become a subsequent victim of homicide at the hands of the same abusive partner.”

Reportedly, the statement also alleged that the pair got into an argument. When the woman tried to calm down Cashel with a hug, she had her arms slapped away. She also alleged that she was picked up by the neck and slammed into the bed.

A Friend Of The Alleged Victim Also Spoke About The Story On Social Media

The woman also claimed her minor child was present during the incident. She also claimed she endured pressure to the point where she had trouble breathing before being slapped.

The alleged victim also told officers that she had endured a variety of health issues from the incident. This included “nausea, neck pain, visual changes and headaches, vomiting, agitation, trouble swallowing, coughing, a raspy voice and difficulty breathing.”

A friend of the alleged victim also took to social media to discuss the story. Taking to X, she wrote, “On April 10, my friend was the victim of a violent assault. She reported that Cashel Barnett, from Love Island USA, attacked her in front of her child. She couldn’t breathe and was left with serious injuries.”

“He’s now facing felony domestic violence charges. There’s a no bail warrant for his arrest, but he still hasn’t been found. My friend showed incredible courage by coming forward. Please share this and help raise awareness. If you have any information, contact Salt Lake City police.”

Love Island USA recently finished its sixth season back in August. A seventh season is expected to come out in June 2025 on Peacock.
