Executive Producer Talks ‘American Idol’ Judges For Next Season
The American Idol executive producer is dishing about the judges for next season. The current season is coming to an end, and someone will win the reality singing competition. So, who will be back at the judges’ table and who could be getting the axe? Keep reading for further details.
Executive Producer On American Idol Judges’ Fate
After last season of American Idol, big changes had to be made as Katy Perry exited as a judge. She sat alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, so the question of who would replace her was everywhere. Eventually, Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood was chosen, and many felt she would be perfect. Mainly because she had the experience of not only going through the competition but also being successful after. Now, the big question is whether she will be back next season.
The show’s executive producer is speaking up about what to expect next season. Will all three of the judges return, or will there be a major shakeup per the viewers’ request? The Idol showrunner and EP, Megan Michaels Wolflick, had this to say, first about the popularity and longevity of the series:
“The fact that this show, 23 years in, can still draw in these talented singers, coming together and showing hope, it still gives me goosebumps. I feel proud to be a part of this show, a part of this brand, and to bring positivity, especially in this jaded world that we’re living in.”
As far a Carrie Underwood goes, she has been an asset on the show. She had to work really hard to make her own way, which was not easy. However, she has done more than they could have ever hoped. So, will she be back along with Luke and Lionel?

“It’s early days still, but I love our panel. I think we’re in a good place. I’m excited for them to crown their first winner together as a threesome. They’re all passionate about the show. Obviously, American Idol is coming back as a show, and we already have thousands of submissions coming in for next season.”
It seems that the three judges are beloved, but their American Idol future is up in the air for now. Megan Michaels Wolflick went on to chat about Jelly Roll, who is the show’s first-ever Artist in Residence. He has helped the contestants since Hollywood week, and he has been such an inspiration. Some feel he should have a bigger role in the series, but Megan loves him so much because he is a true fan of the show. More so, it has been a “dream” for them to have him on the show. Right now, the show is focusing on the season finale and the excitement behind that. After that, decisions can be made.
Would you like all three of the judges to return, or is it time to switch it up? More so, do you want to see Jelly Roll return? Let us know and watch the American Idol finale, Sunday May 18th on ABC.

Keep Carrie and Luke..Lionel goes. He says the same thing all the time for everyone!
LOVE all of them – it has been my favorite season ever!
Jelly Roll, Luke, ?
love Luke, Jellyroll and Lionel.
Not a fan of Carrie on the show.
I think it’s time for a shakeup. Jelly roll should stay in some capacity. The only judge I think should stay is Luke.
Keep them all! It kept everyone guessing who the judges were going to pick. Love this show!!!
Miss, miss, miss Katy Perry. Not the best role for Carrie Underwood. Need someone with more spark. Consider expanding Jelly Roll’s part.
Keep these same 3! I love Luke, Carrie and Lionel.
