When Calls The Heart star Kayla Wallace has made a name for herself as the tough-talking Rebecca Falcone in Taylor Sheridan’s series Landman. In a recent interview, she shared how she learned the difficult legalese lines for the Paramount+ series, and a particularly dangerous scene she had to film.

In the Taylor Sheridan series Landman, When Calls The Heart star Kayla Wallace portrays Rebecca Falcone. Rebecca is not someone to be trifled with. But to play her convincingly, how did Kayla prepare for this difficult role? Speaking to Cowboys & Indians, she shared how she prepared for the complicated dialogue.
Firstly, when she read the script, Kayla had to do a lot of research because she knew nothing about this topic. That included working with Sheridan before they started filming. She wanted to capture what he was thinking of when he wrote the script.
Next, Kayla talked to her attorney friend in Vancouver for some tips. Furthermore, she started down the YouTube rabbit hole of live trials, including celebrity trials. Calling this her “Law School For Dummies,” she also “sat in a real case in Fort Worth.” Most of all, this experience propelled her to fall “in love with the art of litigating.”
As for her character, Rebecca, she loves that Rebecca is “fueled” by the sexism and condescension that is thrown at her.
Kayla Wallace Recalls Dangerous Landman Scene
In the Paramount+ series Landman, there is danger on the oil fields. However, Kayla Wallace filmed a different sort of dangerous scene that involved a rattlesnake.
Well, when a real-life rattlesnake was there, and an ambulance on standby, that feels like danger. It mean it was all done properly. We had snake wranglers, and there was a plexiglass between said rattlesnake and me. But that felt pretty scary to someone who’s never seen a snake before.
Kayla quickly realized that she wasn’t in Hope Valley anymore!
Kayla Wallace Reveals Whether Playing Rebecca Falcone Was A ‘Good Fit’
Kayla Wallace is known as feisty, entrepreneurial Fiona Miller on Hallmark’s When Calls The Heart. That is a role that fits her. But, what about her Landman role as Rebecca Falcone? Does she think this is a good fit for her?
After admitting that it was hard to play a confrontational person in the hit series, she revealed that this was “my biggest hurdle to jump over–to find her strength and her power.” But what she connected with is that “She will give it her all to win her cases.”
She has that whatever-it-takes kind of thing going for her, that mindset. So I connected with that.
