Hoda Kotb To Take Over ‘Kelly Clarkson Show’?
Fans have been wondering what could be next for Hoda Kotb following her exit from Today. Recently, there is some speculation that she could be returning to television with her own talk show. In fact, there are some rumors that she could be taking over one talk show in particular: The Kelly Clarkson Show. An insider has recently spoken out about the idea.
Fans Saw Hoda Kotb Leave Today Earlier This Year, But She Might Soon Be Returning To Television
Kotb has had various roles with NBC over the years. she started serving as the co-host Today‘s fourth hour in 2007. In 2018, she became a co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie.
However, Kotb left Today in early 2025. That said, it was noted at the time that she would remain with NBC in some form. Thanks to this, fans have been wondering what Kotb will do next.
Recently, there has been speculation that Kotb will return to television by taking another show. In particular, some believe Kelly Clarkson might be leaving her namesake talk show, with Kotb taking over as a new host.
As noted by Page Six, an inside source claims there is some merit to the idea. According to the NBC insider, there is a list of names being thrown around for someone to take over Clarkson’s hosting job.
The source claimed, “There’s a long list of names, and Hoda is part of that list. NBC never wanted Hoda to leave. The question is, would Hoda want to do it?”
Reportedly, Kotb fits what the network wants in a possible replacement for Clarkson. She already has a built-in fanbase and a diverse background, as well as a close relationship with the network executives. As the source shared, “Hoda ticks a lot of boxes. She’s an Egyptian, older Kelly Clarkson.”
Another Source Hinted At Another Candidate In Consideration For Kelly Clarkson’s Replacement
For her part, Clarkson’s contract is set to expire next year, leaving room open for a new host. Even so, it’s still unclear if Clarkson is leaving the show in the first place.
The source mused that Clarkson would likely want to remain hosting her show should her upcoming ninth studio album and her Las Vegas residency prove less than successful. As they shared, “If the album doesn’t do well, she might want to keep her talk show. But she has a lot going on and the timing may be right for the next chapter.”

As the publication noted, an insider previously shared that Clarkson herself might be ready to leave the show for personal reasons. As they noted, “Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be. The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South.”
The insider did not share the entire list of possible replacements. However, another source claimed that journalist and former First Lady of California Maria Shriver could also be a potential choice.
