‘When Calls The Heart’ Star Suddenly Dies At 53
Hallmark’s hit series When Calls the Heart is mourning the loss of one of its own. The long-running show has been a fan favorite for twelve seasons and has been renewed for a thirteenth. So, who passed and what was he cause? Keep reading for further details.
When Calls The Heart Star Dead At 53
For years, When Calls the Heart has been a staple of Hallmark and a fan favorite. The viewers debate about the romances, and there are even holiday movies revolving around the characters. All of the actors are well-respected, and fans feel like they connect deeply with them. It is more than a series but a family for those who love it, and just as much for the fabulous cast. Unfortunately, one of the show’s own has passed away, and it has hit the community hard. It was unexpected, but WCTH is dealing with the pain of having to say goodbye.
He may not be a household name, but WCTH viewers will definitely recognize him. Nathaniel “Nate” Pelletier played the part of a taxi driver on a recurring basis. Additionally, he worked behind the scenes as part of the transport department. This means he was a constant presence with the cast, and the show is feeling the loss very deeply. Nate passed away “suddenly” at the age of 53 on April 11th, 2025. Mike Magnusson, who is a production manager on the Hallmark series, shared this sweet tribute:
“Nate was all heart, a true ‘Unicorn’, smashing every 14 hour day with a wide smile & endless cheer for all. He ‘saw’ people, and was always there with a kind word. He leaves a void of spirit we will not be able to replace. Nate you were one of a kind, and we loved you. You will be sorely missed my friend.”
When he passed, Nate was alone at home, although he had a very close family who loved him. Per the When Calls the Heart star’s obituary, his daughter was his complete world:
“Nathaniel’s greatest love was his daughter Myhrsades (Murray) Jones of whom he was so proud. He loved to gift her with concert tickets to experience her favourite band or book travel tickets somewhere special. He was very proud of his world traveller. He also loved music and because of that she and many others have a wider range of music we listen to.”

The tributes that Nate Pelletier received were beautiful, and he was always very excited to be with people. His door was open to everyone, while he was an avid baker and poet. Fans who saw the deep words about him were blown away and in awe of the love he got.
A Tragic Loss
Nate Pelletier was so beloved by everyone he met and came into contact with. As soon as When Calls the Heart fans saw the way he was spoken about by his co-star, Martin Cummins, they were overcome with sadness. He plays the role of Henry Gowen on WCTH and has only praised his co-star. Along with a tribute, he shared photos, leading fans to chime in:

As of now, no cause of death has been revealed. However, that does not seem to matter much when the community has lost someone so special.
