American Idol is getting down to the nitty gritty when it comes to finding the winner of the competition. They are down to the Top 7. A lot of fans’ favorites made it to the Top 7, such as Slater Nalley, Mattie Pruitt, John Foster, Jamal Roberts, and more. However, the competition is getting tough, and contestants truly have to put their best foot forward now. There are only a few more episodes left. The winner will be announced on May 18. This is exciting but also nerve-wracking for everyone involved. However, viewers think one of the contestants may still be in the competition due to a conflict of interest. Yikes.

Fans have split over the idea of one of the judges having a “conflict of interest”. Mattie Pruitt had Craig Campbell play with her during her audition. However, Craig used to play for Luke Bryan in his band. Some think this played a part in her success on the show.

- I’m from their town… can’t stand Craig 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ while I didn’t like that he was at the audition, I feel like she would’ve made it to Hollywood regardless. Now making it past that I’m not sure.
However, some do not think this is the case.
- My point is, knowing someone or being related to someone or having an “in” doesn’t necessarily mean you’re gonna go far in a talent competition it’s not a conspiracy like so many people think regarding nepo babies and the like…
- I really don’t think it’s a big deal… Craig can’t even get his own songs on the radio, so this really isn’t the flex you might think.
It seems as though some fans think Craig coming in and playing for Mattie was some sort of conflict of interest since he used to play for Luke Bryan. However, some do not think it is a big deal, as she more than likely would have gotten through regardless. She is in the Top 7 and is still competing for the crown at such a young age.
