Does he himself like this lifestyle? He also shared some things about himself that many may not know. Keep reading to see what he had to say about himself, how much money he has, and why he can’t do pre-parties.
America’s Got Talent Simon Cowell Not A Huge Fan Of The Super-Rich
America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent creator Simon Cowell is sharing his thoughts on the super-rich. He revealed he is not aiming for billionaire status. Why not? In a recent interview, Cowell said that all of the very rich people he knows are “obnoxious, snobby and unhappy.”
Simon said he does have money and has all he needs. He doesn’t need any more. However, he also claims the media that claim he is worth £500 million have it wrong. Cowell maintains he has nowhere near that amount and also that money isn’t his biggest driver in life.
Simon said, “I don’t yearn for what I thought I wanted a few years ago because when I was a kid I had no idea of anything like yachts and the Caribbean or private planes.” There was one time when he was in his early 40s that he started to chase the dream of having more. However, he said, “And I did start to mix with some of those people for a couple of years. And I’m going to be honest with you, I hated it. I didn’t like the people.
Simon went on to share why he didn’t like them. He said, “I thought they were obnoxious, I thought they were snobby. I think a lot of those people thought they were better than other people because they had money, which is ridiculous when you think about it.”
How Is He Off Camera?
The Sun shared more about Simon’s outlook on money, fame and how he is when he’s not on television. Simon Cowell and his fiancée Lauren have discussed their life and how there is no one they know who is filthy rich and still happy.
Cowell still has some rich friends and does attend events. However, he admits he does not like small talk. As crazy as it seems, Simon said he is very shy and having to talk to people and make small talk is torture for him.
Being famous from shows such as America’s Got Talent, X Factor and American Idol did help him in social settings. He says that when people know who he is that it helps him because they are making small talk. It pushes the conversation along.
Simon admits he is comfortable in front of a camera, but talking to people he doesn’t know makes him feel like he’s dying inside.
When it comes to fans, Cowell has never turned down a selfie or an autograph. He said, “I always say to everyone I work with, ‘Don’t ever complain about people asking for photographs or moan about privacy because if you want privacy, be an accountant. If you want to be well-known, that’s what comes with it.”
Simon is in better shape now than he has been in years. The 65-year-old even said that when his next birthday rolls around, he will be saying he’s a year younger. He feels better and more fit than ever, so why should he continue to age?
