Ozzy Osbourne Reveals ‘Insufferable Pain’ Prayed For Death
Ozzy Osbourne is set to make his final gig with Black Sabbath this July. However, since the news has come out, Ozzy has talked about what he’s been doing preparing for the event. Other figures have also weighed in on what to expect. Recently, Ozzy also talked about the pain he’s been battling with over the years.
Ozzy Osbourne Recently Opened Up About Various Health Issues He’s Went Through Over The Year
The Black Sabbath vocalist and media personality has talked about various health issues he’s endured in recent years. Back in February 2019, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which he went public with in 2020.
Thanks to this, fans have wondered how Ozzy’s health will impact his upcoming show. Ozzy talked about struggles he’s gone through thanks to a bike accident he had back in 2003, which was made worse by a fall in 2019 and had to undergo surgery.

Ozzy spoke about the story with The Guardian. At the time, he noted the procedure was “the worst [expletive] surgery you can imagine. I should have got a second opinion, but you think surgeons know what the [expletive] they’re doing.”
Reportedly, screws from metal plates placed on his spine came lose. The metal had to be slowly removed. Ozzy’s wife Sharon shared, “Five operations later, it just [expletive] his body. It was torturous for him: Parkinson’s and damage to his spine. It’s just been horrendous.”
Ozzy shared he was depressed following the surgery. At his lowest, he confessed he prayed to die in his sleep. He continued, “You wake up the next morning and find that something else has gone wrong. You begin to think this is never going to end. Sharon could see that I was in Doom Town, and she says to me, ‘I’ve got an idea.’ It was something to give me a reason to get up in the morning.”
The Osbournes Also Assured Fans Were ‘Gonna’ Have Black Sabbath
Reportedly, this was where the idea to have the farewell show, known as “Back to the Beginning.” As previously announced, Ozzy would be reuniting with the other founding members of Black Sabbath for the final gig this upcoming July. During the event, he would reunite with Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler.
Sharon teamed up with musical director Tom Morello to create a line-up for the show. This will include Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, and Alice in Chains. For his part, Morello teased, “There’s some pretty great surprises that are not posted anywhere.”

Morello also noted that the Osbournes assured him he’d be there. As he shared, “Sharon and Ozzy were like, ‘You’re gonna have Black Sabbath’. And that felt good.”
However, Ozzy also admitted there wouldn’t be a full set. He noted, “We’re only playing a couple of songs each. I don’t want people thinking, ‘We’re getting ripped off’, because it’s just going to be … what’s the word? … a sample, you’re going to get a few songs each by Ozzy and Sabbath.”
