Tracker Season 2 has one more episode left, “Echo Ridge,” which promises an explosive finale episode with Colter Shaw returning to his hometown and visiting his mother, Mary Dove Shaw. Every week, Colter has been solving a case.

However, there has been a more perplexing and emotional case that has been more compelling. This is the mystery of what happened to Ashton Shaw, Colter’s father.  But, it seems doubtful that Colter will wrap the mystery of his father’s death in one episode.

Therefore, will the series wrap up on Sunday? Or, will Justin Hartley’s CBS survivalist series return for Season 3?

Is Tracker Returning For Season 3?

The first season of Tracker premiered in early 2024, after the Super Bowl. Justin Hartley’s series became an instant hit and CBS renewed it for Season 2. However, there have been some cuts this season including the series Equalizer. What about Tracker? Did it make the cut?

Tracker is returning for Season 3. Moreover, Justin Hartley told The Hollywood Reporter that the upcoming season could shift a bit. Because there is no plan to finish off the mystery of Ashton Shaw’s death in Season 2, viewers should expect Season 3 to include more clues and more revelations.

However, Hartley has also shared that the next season could be a little different. Colter may not be living his comfortable life. He could be on the run from an unknown element. According to the This Is Us alum, one of the ideas that they are throwing around “is that Colter has all of these skills; he’s a survivalist and he knows how to be alone, and he knows how to find people and he’s gifted in that regard.”

Justin continued that he found it “interesting” to see Colter “set up.” Therefore, he can use “all those skills to run from the authorities.” Moreover, “I’d love to have all the tie into the family background, the government.”

It seems possible that Colter could be taking cases, and tracking down people, while looking over his shoulder.

When Is Tracker Season 3 Premiering?

Although CBS has now announced its Fall 2025 schedule, they have not shared premiere dates. That should be announced. However, Tracker is keeping its current Sunday night at 8 p.m., Eastern, on the CBS time slot.

What is also not clear is whether the whole team, Fiona Rene as Renee, Abby McEnany as Velma, and Eric Graise as Bobby, will return. Moreover, could newcomer Chris Lee’s Randy be back for a third season? That seems possible.

Right now, they are figuring out the storylines. If Colter is on the run, his computer guys could play a bigger part in the upcoming season. Also, if he is on the run from the government, it may be necessary for that official to be cast. A new Season 3 storyline could mean an expanded cast.

If this is the case, that information should also be forthcoming when they start filming in the summer.
