‘American Idol’ Can’t Have ‘Perfect Package’ Judge For This Reason
American Idol fans have been talking about judges and who would make good ones since Katy Perry announced she was leaving the show. There were a lot of names thrown around, but ultimately, Carrie Underwood was given the gig. Now, insiders are sharing who would really be a top choice for a judge and why it will never happen. American Idol Insiders Say The Perfect Judge Will Never Happen
American Idol fans have been all over the place about how they feel about Carrie Underwood taking over as a judge for Katy Perry. Some love her and some are not thrilled with the show’s decision.
Many have expressed that someone with Simon Cowell’s personality would be better suited for the job. He was harsher and actually gave honest reviews of performances. Today, more fans think that the three current judges are not really judging. Many feel that Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan are more about offering up compliments than actual critiques.
However, since finding someone as brutally honest as Simon Cowell will not happen, show executives did have other ideas in mind. An insider spoke with The Sun and shared details about who the show would really love to have as a judge.
This person would be their “dream” judge and they would kill to have them on the show. However, they also revealed that it will never happen. Who is it and why not?
The inside source shared that execs would love to have superstar Luke Combs as a judge for American Idol.
They shared that Luke is the perfect package for this job. The source said,
“The network would kill for Luke Combs. He’s at the top of their list. He’s extremely relevant, successful, down-to-earth, and a family man. And he’s a true vocalist, not just a singer. He’s got a once-in-a-generation voice. He really is the perfect package for this show, but the panel cannot be three men so it wouldn’t work out with this current lineup. But if the panel does get shaken up more one day, that’s the dream.”
Right now, the show is demonstrating diversity by having two male and one female judge.
Carrie Underwood Was Not First Choice
American Idol insiders have also shared that country superstar Carrie Underwood was not the first choice when it came to picking a new judge. There were several A-listers in pop and country music who were considered.
Some of the possible stars that were thrown into the ring were Pink, Miley Cyrus and Meghan Trainor.
Before announcing Carrie as the replacement for Katy Perry, Luke Bryan had said he didn’t think they could find someone who was better suited for it than Perry was. He noted that she was great at the job and it would be big shoes to fill.
Right now, it’s uncertain if Underwood will be back for another season as host.
