Smokey Robinson Facing Sexual Assault Accusations From 4 Women
Motown legend Smokey Robinson is facing sexual assault allegations from four women. These women filed a new lawsuit alleging that Robinson did these things during the time each of them was employed by him. What exactly are they accusing him of? Keep reading to get all the breaking details.
Smokey Robinson Faces Sexual Assault Allegations
Motown singer and record executive Smokey Robinson, at the age of 85, is facing a new lawsuit. He is being accused of sexual assault by four different women who worked for him previously. These women are accusing him of sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, gender violence and creating a hostile work environment.
These details were shared by People who were able to obtain court documents confirming the lawsuit has been filed. The women allege that Robinson did these things “willful, wanton, and malicious, with a conscious disregard of their rights, privacy, and feelings.”
These women allege that Smokey’s wife, Frances Robinson, was aware of his misconduct and failed to do anything about it. She is accused of not doing anything to prevent her husband from committing these acts. They continued to say that Robinson had even settled with other women who accused him of sexual assault as well.
Who Are These Four Women?
The true identities of the four women are not being shared in the documents at this time. The women are listed as Jane Doe 1 through 4. Jane Doe 1 alleges that sexual assault and harassment began in March 2023.
Jane Doe 2 says she worked for the Robinsons from 2014 to 2020. The alleged sexual assault began in 2016. She was ultimately “forced to resign” as a result of the ongoing harassment.
Jane Doe 3 worked for the Robinsons much longer. She was there from 2012 to 2024. She alleges that Smokey Robinson raped her from behind at least 20 times while forcing her to lie face down in a towel.
Jane Doe 4 is another housekeeper who was employed by Robinson from 2006 to 2024. She is accusing him of “repeated sexual assaults and sexual harassment” that began in 2007. She was also allegedly forced to resign in 2024 because of the assault.
These four women are asking for no less than $50,000,000 in damages for the assault and harassment they allegedly endured.
A press conference is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles about the lawsuit. So far, Smokey Robinson has not responded to the allegations against him.
He Has Been Promoting New Album
The news comes just five days after he appeared on The Jimmy Kimmel Show to promote his new album. During his time with Jimmy Kimmel, he performed and also spoke with him in a new interview. Robinson spoke about being mistaken for Lionel Richie.
Robinson even spoke about the legendary song “We Are The World.” Along with all that, Jimmy revealed that his father is a Smokey superfan. So, he had some questions for Smokey that his dad wanted him to ask.
