American Idol‘s Season 23 has introduced fans to Josh King. Making quite the impression on viewers, he’s had both critics and defenders. That said, some fans have recently admitted to just why they’ve got an emotional connection to the Idol hopeful.
Josh King Has Seen A Real Turnaround With Viewers On American Idol
Josh King has a background in music, being an airport pianist from Matthews, North Carolina. He first joined American Idol after auditioning in Nashville, Tennessee.
Although he received a “no” from Carrie Underwood, King still got the two votes needed to join the show. Since then, he’s been making an impression on fans with selections like “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John and “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley.
As previously reported, King has received mixed reactions during his time on the show. In a conversation with USA Today, King himself admitted, “I was convinced I was going home,” before his performance of “Never Gonna Give You Up.” In fact, he chose such a memetic song to at least have one last big moment on the show. However, fans would soon come out to share their support for the singer.
One recent performance from King has really got fans sharing why they are starting to like him. On social media, one fan shared, “I really resonated with Josh King’s ‘All By Myself Performance.'”
The fan continued, “I know i felt alone at times, and this song reminded me how much we really need to connect with people. I can relate to what Josh been through.”
A lot of fans shared that they agreed with this sentiment. As one fan noted, “I can too. He really made me feel for him.”

“How he said he’s never had friends like this before and I just love how much the other contestants have gotten so close with him and each other. I love this year’s contestants.”
Another fan shared this sentiment, replying, “Yes, I teared up when he was talking. I could feel him and relate. I sincerely hope at least some of them continue their friendships with Josh (and each other) after the season is over. Everyone deserves to find their people.”
