American Idol fans are blasting the three-judge panel, and it is now being questioned if all of them are necessary. It has almost always been three judges except Season 8. That was when Kara DioGuardi joined as judge number four, but that did not pan out. So, should the show keep three, or is it time to downsize? Keep reading for further details.

American Idol Fans Blast 3 Judge Panel

Since the inception of American Idol, there have always been three judges. It started with Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, and Randy Jackson. Eventually, people would leave, and replacements would come in. Now, after Katy Perry’s departure, Idol is left with Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood. Carrie has been hit or miss with viewers, as some adore her and others are over the alum. As fan favorites are being sent home by America, and some do not understand how others have made it so far, there are many questions.

One of them is whether the three judges are needed anymore. They used to balance each other out as Paula Abdul was the mothering one, Randy Jackson was the sweet but honest one, and Simon Cowell left no crumbs. Unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case with Carrie, Lionel, and Luke. Fans question why the show even has judges when America is deciding everything, leaving the three occasionally baffled:

  • So… What’s the point of having 3 judges? Do they actually decide anything? At the end of the last episode you can see that the judges didn’t agree with America’s vote (i.e choosing Mattie over freaking Filo who sung his heart out with character and color VS Mattie who is a replicated template of raspiness every week).

This is a fair question, but the judges have been there to guide the contestants through to Hollywood. Then, they offer critiques to help them improve and give their best performances. Aside from that, there comes a point where American Idol relies on the votes coming in over anything.

Do Fans Agree Judges Need To Go?

After seeing the best contestants leave, do American Idol fans agree that the judges are useless? Or do they believe that Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie are assets to the series? This is a valid question because they have no control over what America does or says. Some believe that the judges help because of their varied musical genres:

  • The point of 3 judges is to have 3 people from different genres to guide the contestants. Mind you Carrie is county too but she is more of a pop country artist. One has to be a woman. I don’t know if these judges are doing anything other than positive comments
  • They are useful for the first few weeks… When it’s them(and the producers) choosing who will make it through.
  • Due to the new voting during the performances format it really does seem pointless to hear from them.

So, it does feel that the judges should be on the show to help get the contestants through to Hollywood and the live shows. Then, after that, they serve little to no purpose.

Do you think it is time to do away with judges, or do you like having them there? Let us know and watch American Idol on ABC and streaming on Hulu.
