Steve Doocy Leaving ‘Fox & Friends’ Couch After 30 Years

Steve Doocy is known for his work on Fox & Friends. In fact, he has been with the talk show for nearly three decades. However, while on the air, Doocy made an announcement with his role on the show and what fans can expect new from him. During the announcement, Doocy also got a surprising announcement from a prominent figure.
Steve Doocy First Joined Fox & Friends In 1998
Doocy started his journalistic career while working in TV Stations in Iowa and Kansas. In 1996, he would join Fox News Channel.
By 1998, Doocy would become a co-host on Fox & Friends. It was through this role that many viewers would be introduced to the political commentator.

However, Doocy recently announced a change concerning his work with Fox & Friends. After nearly thirty years with the show, he will transition into a new role.
Viewers will now see Doocy leave the studio and travel around the country. With his new title, he will be a host for various Fox & Friends remote assignments. Reportedly, Doocy will be primarily based in Florida and will continue to make remote appearances on the show, which is based in New York City. He will share segments with co-hosts Brian Kilmeade, Ainsley Earhardt, and Lawrence Jones.
Doocy announced his plans on the show during the May 1, 2025, episode. At the time, he shared, “After decades of getting up at 3:30 and driving into New York City in the dark, today is the last day I will host the show from the couch.”
Doocy also assured, “I am not retiring. I’m not leaving the show. I’m still a host, but it’s time for a change.”
Fans Might Not Have Seen The Last Of Doocy On The Fox & Friends Couch
In addition to working three days a week from Florida, Doocy will also travel to “other parts of America that don’t get a lot of network airtime.” Doocy jokingly gave himself the title of “the coast-to-coast host.”
However, fans haven’t necessarily seen the last of Doocy on the Fox & Friends couch, either. He shared, “I will continue to join this couch crew for commentary. You have trusted me for all these years and don’t worry, you will still hear my voice and my opinions.”
Doocy’s new role will also give him more time to spend with his family. This includes his wife, children, and grandchildren. Back in July, he recently shared that he became a grandfather of four.
Doocy shared, “When my kids were growing up, I never had breakfast with them. I was always here. [Doocy’s wife] Kathy did everything. But starting tomorrow, I’m going to have breakfast with my grandkids and my children whenever I can.” In a conversation with People, he also shared, “As a grandparent, my job is to spoil them rotten the rest of their lives.”
President Donald Trump also appeared on the show and sent the following message to Doocy. He shared, “I just want to congratulate you on your new and probably enhanced role. I just think you’re a fantastic guy. You’ve always treated me fairly, sometimes a little more fairly than other times, but that’s okay.”
“You’ve been really stellar at what you do and at your craft, and you’re going to continue, and it’s really been an honor to have spent so much time with you and watching you and the whole group in the morning.”
