Cameron Mathison Speaks Out On Hate From Fans
Not only is Cameron Mathison a soap star, he often plays the hero in movies for the Hallmark Channel. But right now, the character he plays on ABC’s General Hospital is the furthest thing from being a hero.
He joined the soap as Drew Cain (Quartermaine) in 2021 after actor Billy Miller was let go from the role. Drew is actually the brother of Jason Morgan (Quartermaine, played by Steve Burton.)
Drew’s downfall on GH began with his affair with his nephew’s wife, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen.) Michael (Chad Duell) found out about the affair shortly before he was in a fire that caused massive burns. Michael is currently overseas seeking treatment for the injuries, though fans think he will return to Port Charles soon.
In Michael’s absence, Willow and Drew have continued their affair. In a strange turn of events, Drew had Willow sign legal documents that would make him the legal guardian of her and Michael’s kids if something happened to her.
General Hospital fans aren’t loving this side of Drew. Cameron Mathison was recently on Live With Kelly and Mark. Addressing the hate from fans, he admitted that Drew is “not a great guy right now.”
He revealed that the last time he got this much backlash from soap fans was when he was on All My Children. He played Ryan Lavery on the now-cancelled soap opera. Ryan was generally liked by fans until one storyline.
“The only time I’ve ever played a character that’s been disliked this severely on soap operas in my life … was when my character, Ryan, tried to break up Hayley and Mateo,” he said.
Real-life couple Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos played Hayley and Mateo on All My Children. They fell in love and eloped while playing the star-crossed lovers.
General Hospital Viewers Convinced Drew Is Shiloh
Drew isn’t acting like himself. He recently tried to destroy the Quartermaine family crypt. The move led to Tracy refusing to let Drew use the Quartermaine last name.
Fans of the show are confused over Drew’s behavior but think there’s a shocking reason for it. Many GH viewers have speculated online that Drew is actually Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) wearing a mask.
Shiloh and Drew knew each other from their days in Afghanistan. Shiloh was eventually revealed to be a cult leader who Willow got tangled up with. He was shot by Sam (Kelly Monaco) in 2019. His body was recovered and positively identified, but viewers know that no one stays dead on soaps.

Other Theories About Reason For Drew’s Behavior
General Hospital fans took to social media to discuss what’s caused the change in Drew. The general consensus is that Drew is really Shiloh but check out some of the other theories:
- “Another theory could be that he’s been conditioned (remember that whole card thing?). Someone could be mind controlling him with that card.”
- “That or he was mind whammied in the prison attack and has Shilohs memories. Either way there is no redeeming him.”
- “Plastic surgery, but Shiloh underneath.”
- “I believe they’ll say it’s him but they’ll do the GH fav and give him a tumor or brain bleed from the prison fight”
- “I feel more like it’s a brain tumour.”

Well if I remember correctly, the day that or when Shiloh was shot, he had just acquired if I’m not mistaken from Peter Drew‘s memory chip… So he has Drew‘s memories… did he orchestrate this with Victor and or did Peter know? I’m just wondering if maybe did Victor really die or what? Apparently Victor wanted something Drew had some memories of something and guess what that was never revealed so I have a feeling that Victor or somebody else in the cast had a family has something going on behind the scenes that we don’t see yet and shallow could be a part of it… After all him and Drew work together so anyways… And also too when Kai revealed to him how happy he was that Drew was coming through for him. It kind of reminded me out when Drew kinda glowed over that cause you could see it in his face. It reminded me of how shallow felt when he like was helping somebody but was actually manipulating them and the cult sort to speak and here he is doing the same thing with Kai… So he was like a brain washer as well if you think about it… I do believe that Peter‘s dad but I have a feeling that Victor has a lot more to say maybe and shallow has a big part in it because I think shallow because he now has Drew’s memories has what Victor wants and it could be that because a shallow wants revenge on Willow and everyone else Victor is allowed him to do it as long as he get the memories that he has of Drew that’s my theory… So it’s not just sunny or Sidewell we have to worry about but I think Victor is up to no good but then again Victor after I’ll be dead too, so who knows… But I will say this this could be a way for Willow to regain or not be hated anymore because now she’ll be seen as once again a victim who needs help because once again she fell trap to Shiloh, and I’m hoping it will be Michael who figures it out.

Well the same thing could be the case with Willow, which means that Michael needs to come to the rescue and save her. Also, this will allow others to be able to forgive her because of the fact that this happened like she wasn’t thinking in the correct way because she was being mind controlled… That’s what I’m thinking.
