‘Bachelorette’ Katie Thurston Discusses How Long She Has To Live
Bachelorette Katie Thurston has been very open about her stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis. She started at stage 3 but progressed to stage 4 when she found out it had spread to her liver. As honest as she has been, she got even more candid in a recent interview with Emmanuel Acho on his podcast Uncomfortable Conversations. One thing she discussed was how long she has to live. What exactly did she say? Keep reading to get all the details.
Bachelorette Katie Thurston Reveals More About Her Cancer Diagnosis
Bachelorette Katie Thurston is opening up even more about her breast cancer diagnosis. During her recent podcast appearance with Emmanuel Acho, she really went in depth with how she is feeling. Of course, it is only natural that her biggest fear is dying.
Katie went on to explain that in reality, everyone is dying and each day is a gift. However, she said having a heavy diagnosis like hers does make her look over her shoulder, so to speak.
She also shared that it seems like everything about this is measured with time. Examples are how long one medication will be taken and when the next scan will be to check if the treatment is working.
How much time does Katie have? She talked about how many people think she has a short time to live since she has stage 4 with metastasis in her liver. However, she is doing her best to stay positive and believes she is not one of those people. She went on to say her doctor has never once made her feel like things couldn’t be treated. The treatment plan Katie is on has been very good for a lot of people.
So, how long does she believe she has to live? The former Bachelorette said, “They measure it in five-year increments. It’s a weird thing to say but I feel like at least I got five years. Truly, I’d like to think I have 20 or more, given medical advancements and stuff.”
She Plans To Keep Fighting
Bachelorette Katie Thurston also shared that she has been through a lot of hard times in her life. To her, this is just another battle and her biggest one of all.
Katie said, “I f***ing win battles. I fight so hard, and this will be the hardest battle of my life, for sure, but I’ve never thought I wouldn’t get through it. I’ve never thought that I would not see the other side. So that’s what I’m hoping to do.”
As Katie battles cancer, she won’t be doing it alone. She has her family’s support as well as her new husband, Jeff Arcuri, and all her fans worldwide.
She just began her treatment after initially being misdiagnosed. Katie will be taking Letrozole + Kisqali + Zoladex. Prior to treatment, she underwent fertility treatment so she and Jeff have a chance at having children in the future.
What do you think about Katie’s outlook on her time left to live?
