‘Breaking Amish’ Returns After Mary Schmucker’s Sad Death
Breaking Amish is coming back amid Mama Mary Schmucker’s sad passing. The matriarch of Breaking and Return to Amish passed away on March 28th, 2025. She had long battled colon cancer, and unfortunately, her body gave out. So, when will the hit TLC show return? Keep reading for more details.
Breaking Amish Returns After Mary Schmucker’s Sad Death
It was a hard pill to swallow learning Mama Mary Schmucker had cancer. The Breaking Amish star was diagnosed in 2022 and went through a lot to try and get her health under control. She eventually was under hospice care but still doing her best, seeing friends, and did not see it as a death sentence. Sadly, word came out that she was having a very hard time, and within days, she had passed. Fans had prayed for her to be healthy and, eventually, at peace. Everyone has loved Mary for years, and to see her in any pain was heartbreaking.
Her co-star, Jeremiah Raber, spoke out and sang her praises. She was the mother he had always needed and wanted, so to lose her was heartbreaking. Mary was the person who everyone could lean on with zero judgment. Now that she has passed, it is the perfect time to bring back Breaking Amish. This show followed young Amish and Messonite adults as they tried to live in the English world. Return to Amish was the spin-off that showcased life after leaving the community while introducing new cast members on their adventures.

Unfortunately, there will not be any new episodes, as the ship on those shows has sailed. However, all four seasons will be available on Hulu starting April 19th. Mafry Schmucker was a staple on these shows, as were her kids, Abe and Andrew Schmucker. Abe went on to marry one of his co-stars, Rebecca Schmucker, while Andrew found love with Chapel Peace. The cast changed in Seasons 3 and 4, but many of the OGs came back for Return to Amish.
An Exciting Development
Having Breaking Amish back for binging is a huge deal, as many fans have missed seeing the cast. They also want to have a few moments with Mama Mary Shmucker again. Granted, viewers did take issue with some of the show being staged. They learned that some of the later cast members had already left their communities when they joined the show. More so, they were acting like they were still Amish when in reality, they had ditched that life long ago. Mary was always very loving and genuine, so when she fell really ill, fans flocked to share their love:

When Mary Schmucker exited Return to Amish, viewers were devastated and wanted her back. They hoped she would return at some point but sadly, never did.
