MasterChef Season 15 will premiere on FOX later in the year. However, fans can expect to see several changes in the episodes to come.

An official premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but FOX execs have announced a theme for the year. Season 15 will center around “Dynamic Duos.” This season, pairs of chefs will compete for the honor of winning the title of America’s best home cooks.

Sadly, one MasterChef fixture won’t return for Season 15. Read on to see what to expect and learn more about the cast shake-up.

One Beloved Judge Won’t Return For MasterChef Season 15

For years, Aarón Sánchez, Gordon Ramsay, and Joe Bastianich have been staples of MasterChef. Guest judges periodically come and go, but fans are accustomed to seeing the three celebrity chefs guide the home cooks through the competition.

But this year, one of the judges won’t return.

Parade reports that Aarón Sánchez is sitting MasterChef Season 15 out. It’s possible he might return as a guest in some capacity, but he will no longer be a full-time judge. Gordon Ramsay and Joe Bastianich will return for the upcoming season, joined by new judge Tiffany Derry.

Although it’s never easy losing a fan favorite, FOX executives remain excited about the upcoming episodes.

“Season after season, Gordon Ramsay and his team deliver limitless creativity and always raise the competitive bar, keeping MasterChef among the top cooking shows on television, as we saw again with its impressive performance last summer,” FOX president Michael Thorn said in an official statement. “The long-standing, collaborative partnership we enjoy with Gordon, Joe and the Endemol Shine North America team continues to bring compelling, differentiated experiences to our audience – a winning recipe we know will get even better by welcoming Tiffany’s fresh, expert perspective to the mix.”

Get To Know The Newest MasterChef Judge, Tiffany Derry

Viewers will certainly miss Aarón Sánchez, but his replacement appears to be an incredible force in the kitchen. Tiffany Derry previously appeared in other seasons of MasterChef as a guest judge, so she’s not unfamiliar to many viewers.

“#MasterChef is back with a brand new judge! 🙌” Food Club Fox shared on Instagram this week. “Get to know @mastercheftd before the season premiere later this summer on FOX!”

In the video, Chef Derry introduces herself and discusses some of her biggest inspirations as a professional chef.

“I’ve been cooking now for 27 years,” the newest MasterChef judge shared in her interview. “It’s so crazy because I’m still 35! The first person who inspired me and my cooking is my grandmother and my mother. I come from a long line of cooks.”

As for advice, Tiffany Derry said she wanted all home cooks to learn the building blocks of the culinary arts. She believes technique is one of the most important elements of professional cooking.

And just like all other professional chefs, Chef Derry has a signature dish. She added that she loves to cook and eat gumbo, as part of her Southern heritage. The dish reminds her of home and she loves sharing the flavor with others.
