Hoda Kotb Reaches Out To Struggling Fans In Video
Following her departure from Today earlier this year, Hoda Kotb still continues to share updates with fans. Recently, Kotb shared a video with fans who are going through personal struggles. However, it seemed as if Kotb wanted fans to fill in some of the blanks themselves.
Today‘s Hoda Kotb Wanted To Share A Special Video With Fans
For many, Kotb is known for her work with NBC. For years, she had served as a co-host on the Today morning show and its fourth hour.
Back in September, Kotb announced her departure from Today, last appearing on January 10, 2025. At the time, it was noted that she was planning on staying with NBC in an unspecified role.
That said, the former Today co-host still continues to share messages with fans on social media. Recently, she shared a video from writer Josie Balka on Instagram. The video focused on people who are facing challenges in their lives, all the while advising them how to deal with them.
In the video, Balka shared, “In the history of storms, there has never been one that lasted forever. They’ve all come and found their way of passing, even though each of them shows up in a different form than the last or the next. The two things they all have in common is that they start and they end.”
“Some of them roll through without warning and end just as quickly as they began, white knuckles on the steering wheel and suddenly it’s sunny again. Some of them are long expected and not as bad as they were projected to be, and some of them are catastrophic, tearing apart everything in their wake, the kind of storm that takes such a toll you have to rebuild everything from the ground up.”
Josie Balka Emphasized The Importance Of Staying Positive Amid The ‘Storms’
Despite all this, Balka emphasized the importance of staying positive. As she noted, “Even while you’re hunched over, picking up the pieces in the aftermath, the sun finds its way to shine on your back while you do it…Sooner than you know it, the sun will come out, because it has to, and you will be okay, because you have to.”
As the message came to an end, things concluded with, “This storm is worth waiting out.” Kotb shared, “Happy Tuesday xo.”

For her part, Kotb didn’t elaborate on a connection with Balka or why she shared her message. This was likely done so that fans would internalize their own connections to the message.
Taking to the comments, many fans shared their own reactions to the video. Many noted that this was something they needed to hear. Some comments included:

On her own Instagram page, Balka described herself as “the happiest sad girl you’ll ever meet.” As noted by Lucinda Literary, “Josie Balka is a radio host, voiceover artist, and poet. She holds a diploma in radio and television broadcasting from Niagara College and has worked for some of the largest media companies in North America. In October 2023, Josie began posting videos on social media of her reading her poetry, which touches on themes of friendship, lost love, and self-worth.”
