Tori Spelling Says Her ‘Family’ Was Robbed
Author, actress, and podcaster Tori Spelling is speaking out about how her “family” was robbed. Yet, when did this happen to the mother of five, and can she recover? More so, what were they robbed of? Keep reading for further details.
Tori Spelling Says Her ‘Family’ Was Robbed
Back when the California wildfires happened, Tori Spelling and her children had to evacuate. When they returned home, she thought that they had been robbed as the home was in complete disarray. It was a disaster area but as she soon realized, this was just the way she and her five kids lived. They were just fine but rather complete slobs. Unfortunately, it seems her “family” has been robbed again, but in a different context. Tori never holds anything back and is very open with her feelings. This can rub people the wrong way, but it is just who she is, and she makes no excuses.
Recently, she opened up about a robbery that happened but it occurred at the 2025 Academy Awards. Tori spoke about this on the late Shannen Doherty’s Let’s Be Clear podcast. She explained how they were robbed during the in memorium segment, as Shannen was seemingly left out. This did not track as she had been in such films as Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Heathers, Mallrats, and more. Tori had this to say about the slam:
“I have to say it was shocking, truly shocking. Because to me, I discovered Shannen as a fan on the big screen. While she was so iconically known for her TV roles, which I want to honor her and go through her career today, but it’s really the big screen where her career just thrived. And she just lit up the big screen going back to when she was a kid.”
So, to not have her presence there was striking to Tori Spelling who co-starred with Shannen on Beverly Hills, 90210 for four seasons.

She continued to share that her father, Aaron Spelling, had been left out when he passed in 2006, and then Luke Perry was overlooked after he died in 2019. However, Shannen was the third strike:
“The year my dad passed, I remember he was left out of it. And then, ironically, the year that Luke Perry passed, he was left out of it. But it’s not like Shannen could have been an oversight. It just felt for all of us watching that loved her and loved her work, it felt like not only was she robbed, but we were robbed.”
Fans Are Up In Arms
Tori Spelling saw that Shannen Doherty’s fans were also appalled that she had been left out. It made Tori question what the rules are to be included in he segment. Yet, she believed that Shannen checked all of the boxes and was heartbroken she was missing. It made it even worse that Tori had been through this twice before with people she truly and deeply cared for. After Shannen’s tribute podcast aired, her fans continued to speak out about her being left out of the Oscars:
- How was that even possible??! Not okay @theacademy . Girls Just Want To Have Fun is one of my favorite movies EVER.
- Unreal. She’s an absolute 90s icon. One more reason I will never watch the Oscars again if it’s the last thing on television.
- So shameful you didn’t include her @theacademy….!
It was noted that she was included on the Oscars’ website but not in the video montage. That did not make it any better, but some felt she was too good for the award show.
