Mike Wolfe Says ‘American Pickers’ Taking First-Ever Hiatus

American Pickers has been on the air since 2010. Throughout that time, Mike Wolfe has been the consistent face leading the excursions across the American heartland, looking for hidden treasures. After 15 years, Mike made a big announcement while promoting a new movie he appears in. Mike says that his show is taking its first-ever hiatus.
Here is what you need to know about the American Pickers hiatus and what is next for Mike Wolfe and his reality TV show.
Mike Wolfe Says American Pickers Going On Hiatus
American Pickers premiered on the History Channel on January 18, 2010. Over the last 15 years, it has had 26 seasons and close to 400 episodes. Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz hosted the show until 2022. Danielle Colby ran the antiques business. After the show fired Frank, Mike’s brother Robbie Wolfe took his place.

However, for now, it seems like the end of an era. Mike Wolfe and his girlfriend Leticia Cline are appearing in a new movie hitting theaters called Day of Reckoning. The couple have been promoting the movie, including showing up at the premiere in Los Angeles together.
They also spoke to PEOPLE about the movie-making experience. Along the way, Mike said something interesting about American Pickers. He said the show would take a “brief hiatus” thanks to their work on making the movie.
“We haven’t done that in 15 years, so that’s going to feel good. For 15 years, we have just been going and going and going,” Mike said. He also revealed that the longest break the cast and crew have taken is “a month around Christmas.”
“I think we’re going to have at least four or five months off, so it’s going to be good,” Mike said. The good news is that this means the hiatus won’t be as long, and it should only put an upcoming season off about half a year from when fans might have expected it.
Mike Wolfe On What This American Pickers Break Is Important
American Pickers’ ratings have plummeted over the last few seasons. The previous two have hit historically low viewership numbers. However, Mike doesn’t seem concerned about the numbers and online discussion. He still seems to be doing this because he loves it and needs a break.

Mike said he needs a break and that it has nothing to do with taking a movie role. He said he has no plans for an acting career in movies and that his passion still lies in American Pickers. He said that for the last 15 years, he has turned down many opportunities. He said he felt “overwhelmed with what I’m doing.”
That said, he does have a new show coming to the History Channel: History’s Greatest Picks with Mike Wolfe. “They asked me to do another show, and I felt that it was on brand in regards to what I’ve been doing with them for the last 15 years. And so I was like, ‘Hell yeah, let’s do this!'” Mike said.
