Katie Thurston Confirms She Has Stage 4 Breast Cancer
Katie Thurston of The Bachelorette is speaking out and confirming that she has stage 4 breast cancer. Katie shared not long ago that she had breast cancer, but at the time, she didn’t know how bad it was. Keep reading to find out her big update today.
Katie Thurston Shared Cancer Had Spread
This week, Katie Thurston shared that her cancer had possibly spread to her liver. They found a spot that needed to be checked. She went in for a biopsy and today she got the results. She simply sent her subscribers a note that said “Stage 4.” Thurston then later went to her Instagram to share a story about why she hasn’t started treatment yet and what is going on with her.
Katie Reveals Details
Katie went to her Instagram to reveal the details about what is going on. You can watch the video below of what she had to say to her followers. Katie said, “After days of waiting, unfortunately, I did find out today that my breast cancer has spread to the liver. It is fairly small, however it does put me at stage four.”
She is very lucky that this is a small spot and as of right now it looks like it has only spread to her liver and not anywhere else in her body. Next Friday, she will be starting chemo. Katie started out doing treatments in California, but since she had already planned a move to New York, she transferred her treatments to a new location. They told her she needed to get a pet scan done and this is where they found the spot on her liver. She went through a lot of testing in California, but this wasn’t one of the tests that they did on her.
Katie went on to explain saying, “I know stage four can sound very scary, and it can be. However, given that I am triple positive and the spots on my liver are fairly small and detected early, I feel very optimistic on my outcome.” So far, Thurston has done a great job on social media staying in good spirits about what is going on with her.
