‘America’s Got Talent’ Sources Say Trouble Behind The Scenes?
America’s Got Talent Season 20 has a new third judge, Mel B, returning to the competition series after six years away. Heidi Klum is out, and Mel B is back after spending six years away from the series. However, it sounds like things are not going well backstage between at least two of the show’s judges. As the season pre-tapes the auditions, trouble is brewing.
Here is what sources say is happening backstage at AGT this season as the show starts taping.
Two America’s Got Talent Hosts Seemingly Feuding Behind-The-Scenes
According to at least one source, there are problems already between Mel B and one of the returning America’s Got Talent judges. From the sound of it, Mel B and Sofia Vergara are not getting along at all off-camera, and there is an “icy” behavior between the two women.
Former Spice Girls member Mel B returned to America’s Got Talent after a six-year break. Mel B joined the show in Season 8, replacing Sharon Osbourne (who replaced Brandy Norwood). That was also the first season that the judging table went from three to four people. It was Howard Stern, Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Heidi Klum that season.
Mel B left the series after Season 13. Gabrielle Union replaced her and worked for only one season before Sofia Vergara replaced her. Heidi Klum also left after Season 13 and was replaced by Julianne Hough. One year later, Heidi returned as Union and Hough left the show. Cowell, Mandel, Vergara, and Klum worked as judges from Season 15 to Season 19.
Mel B and Sofia Vergara never worked together on the show. Now that they are together, it seems that they don’t get along at all. A source said that Mel B does not speak or make eye contact with Sofia when the cameras are not rolling. “Mel barely acknowledged Sofia when they weren’t recording,” the source said (via The U.S. Sun).
What To Know About America’s Got Talent Season 20
Three judges remain the same. Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara have worked together every season since America’s Got Talent Season 15. Cowell worked with Mel B from Season 11 to Season 13. Mandel worked with her every season she was on the show the last time.
According to the source, “Mel spent most of the time talking to Howie, who she sat right next to, or even got up to talk to Simon. But even though Sofia was right on the other side of her, they barely spoke or even made eye contact when the cameras went down.”
The source even said that Mel B would get up and walk around Sofia Vergara to talk to Simon rather than talk to him with Sofia in between. “She seemed to get along well with Simon and Howie off camera,” the source said. “And she got along with Sofia when cameras were on but when they were off, very icy vibes.”
