‘Alaskan Bush People’: What Happened To All Their Money?

A former business associate of Alaskan Bush People star Billy Brown sued the family estate for money he claims Billy owed him. The courts forced the Brown family to reveal several things that once remained secret, including how much the Discovery Channel paid them for the show, which was a very large amount.
However, fans have started questioning where the money is as all the Brown siblings seem to live in poverty. Here is a look at what might happen with the Brown family and their wealth.
How Much Did Alaskan Bush People Pay Brown Family
The court case forced Ami Brown and the Billy Bown estate to reveal what they were paid for making Alaskan Bush People. The court documents show that only Billy was being paid, not his kids or wife. He was paid $500,000 an episode, which means that for a nine-episode season, Billy made $4.5 million.

What happened to that money? For one thing, Billy did buy them the mountain on which they live in Washington. That had to cost a lot of money. They also built their homes there. The show claims it was mainly a barter system, but you can’t believe everything you see on that show.
Also, after Ami’s home burned down in the Washington fires, they rebuilt it, and there is little chance they got that for next to nothing. However, even with the purchase of their mountain home, there should be plenty of money left over after 14 seasons and 114 episodes. Billy had to have made millions of dollars throughout the show.
There are also some little things to take into account. In the final season, Noah Brown buys an island in Alaska for his retirement home. Bear Brown has spent a lot of time in Texas with Raiven as she had her baby, and he doesn’t work or have a job but can afford to do whatever he wants.
There are also unfounded rumors that the family lives in much nicer places than what they show on their social media accounts and in their appearances on the show.
Fans Question Alaskan Bush People Money Situation
Alaskan Bush People fans started questioning the family’s money situation on social media. This all came after a recent appearance by Matt Brown, talking about his financial situation.
Watch on TikTok
Matt posted a video (via TikTok) that showed all the work he had to do to save money for a 1999 police cruiser. They said the car looked junky and wondered why he couldn’t afford anything better. The OP also said that his brothers and sisters looked like they didn’t have nice living conditions either. They asked what their financial situation looked like and if they were broke.
The Alaskan Bush People family ostracized Matt, and he received no money from anything from the show. But what about his siblings? Here is what fans had to say:
- “The rehab for Matt probably wasn’t cheap. Billy bought the Intergrity twice. He smoked constantly they just never showed it. And I imagine they weren’t paying taxes, so once they got on the air, they would likely would have had to deal with the IRS.”
- “I think it boils down to all the medical bills for Amis treatment and the times he was sent to hospital. I doubt they could catch enough salmon for all those bills.”
- “Billy was such a con man/grifter, no wonder the money disappeared. It bothered me to see so many people fall for this fake show.”
What are your thoughts on the Alaskan Bush People’s money situation? Do you think they are as hard-up as they seem to let on? Do you think they have hidden their money away and their appearance is all for show? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
