Whoopi Goldberg Touched On Someone Who Had Been Part Of The View‘s History
On a recent episode of The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg touched on a recent passing. A clip of the poignant moment was also released as a clip on the talk show’s YouTube channel and Instagram page.
The deceased had a prominent political career. However, they should also be familiar to long-time viewers of the talk show.

As Whoopi shared, “We are heartbroken to learn that the first black Republican woman elected to the US Congress, Mia Love, passed away at just 49.” It is believed Love passed away on March 23, 2025.
“Three years are being diagnosed with brain cancer. She was a guest co-host back in 2021 with us. And we had some fun with her. And she will be missed. She will absolutely be missed.”
Whoopi also later took a moment to share how Love came together with the other guests despite opposing viewpoints. As she continued, “She came, she wanted to be part of what we’re doing here. And that should remind you that it is possible for us all to not agree, but to get along and try to talk about it. It can be done.”
Mia Love’s Family Revealed The News Of Her Passing On Social Media
Love’s family had announced the news of her passing on social media. Taking to X, the following message had been shared, “Love Family: With grateful hearts filled to overflowing for the profound influence of Mia on our lives, we want you to know that she passed away peacefully today. She was in her home surrounded by family.”
“In the midst of a celebration of her life and an avalanche of happy memories, Mia quietly slipped the bands of mortality and, as her words and vision always did, soared heavenward. We are thankful for the many good wishes, prayers and condolences. We are taking some time as a family and will provide information about funeral services and a public celebration of her life in the days to come.”

The clip had also been shared on Instagram, which also gave the following information: “[The View] co-hosts remember former Rep. Mia Love, the first Black Republican woman elected to Congress, who passed away on Sunday after a battle withglioblastoma.”
Love had been part of a group of rotating conservative guest hosts as part of The View’s 25th season. At the time, this was done to help fill in the role from Meghan McCain. The role was later taken on by Alyssa Farah Griffin.
