‘The Bachelor’ Litia Garr Deceived By Grant, Promised Engagement

The Bachelor runner-up, Litia Garr, admitted that she felt deceived by Grant Ellis and was promised an engagement. He had told her he loved her before he told the finalist, Juliana Pasquarosa, and really seemed to want to be with Litia. So, what happened, and how did Litia handle this? Keep reading for more details.
Litia Garr Deceived By The Bachelor, Grant
From the beginning of The Bachelor, Grant Ellis was drawn to Litia Garr. They had a great one-on-one date, and he liked her family at hometowns. Grant and Litia exchanged “I Love You” but there was a big drawback in the romance. Litia had a timetable for how she wanted her life to go. She knew that in the next two years, she wanted to start a family. Although Grant always wanted kids, he admitted that he wanted to spend some time enjoying life with his partner.

When it came down to a proposal, Grant was torn like no Bachelor before. He loved both women and Juliana had finally said it out loud. His father, Robert came and told him to follow his heart while he had to make a quick decision at the end. He chose Juliana because she made him feel free and happy, but broke Litia’s heart. She was shocked and went from sweet and hopeful to livid. Litia felt deceived by him, and by the time she appeared on the live finale, she took no prisoners. She explained that Grant had told her, the day before proposal day, that they were getting engaged.
A week before The Bachelor finale, they had fantasy suites. There, Grant Ellis had this to say to Litia Garr:
“I think the maturity that you bring is big. I like the ground that you stand on, and I know where your priorities are, and I know what’s important to you, it’s what you are on the inside that I can see myself with you. And see you as my wife, because I do love you.”
She said it back but she also said that she tried to pump the brakes on the romance and Grant was full speed ahead. It was hard for her to understand why he changed and ended up calling it quits with her.
A Misleading Romance
Litia Garr wanted to make it clear that Grant Ellis loved her, and she was led to believe she was his final choice. She shared the details with The Bachelor host, Jesse Palmer. Of course, it was hard to relive the breakup, but she wanted everyone to know how she was misled by Grant:
“Grant and I had talked a lot about that day, and everything that he had ever said about it was that it was going to be us. We were getting engaged from, you know, the first one on one that we had in L.A. until the night before that day. I remember saying goodbye to him and saying, ‘Oh my Gosh, we are getting engaged tomorrow.’ And he said, ‘I know I can’t wait. I love you. I love you. I love you.’ Those were the last words that he said to me before I walked up there. So it was a shock.”
Grant attempted to apologize and explained that it was a very hard decision. Fans applauded how Litia handled herself as she went through this nightmare:
- Her level of communication and self advocacy is craszzzzyyy good
- Grant faked maturity. He wanted to be a man Litia was describing but at the end of the day he couldn’t fill those shoes
Many also felt that she should be the next Bachelorette when the franchise returns. The audience loved how composed and clear she was with her feelings. Hopefully, she can find love in the near future.
