Jesse Palmer Reveals The Future Of ‘Bachelorette’ After Pause

In a surprising move, ABC announced in February that The Bachelorette won’t air this summer. The spinoff usually fills the spring and summer time slot after The Bachelor ends in March. Bachelor Nation fans are worried the spinoff won’t return at all. What does Jesse Palmer say about it?
Jenn Tran Speculates Why Bachelorette Ratings Are Lower
Jenn Tran was the last person viewers expected to be named The Bachelorette for Season 21. She was a contestant on Joey Graziadei’s season of The Bachelor but was sent home in Week 7, right before the Hometown dates. Many fans expected runner-up Daisy Kent or controversial contestant Maria Georgas to get the role.
According to Maria, she was offered the role but turned it down. Daisy Kent was also rumored to turn the role down. Jenn Tran was allegedly the third choice. While many viewers thought she was a great lead, the contestants on her season left a lot to be desired.

But still, fans wanted Jenn to find love. She did with Devin Strader, but the two broke up shortly after filming. She’s now happily dating her Dancing With The Stars partner, Sasha Farber.
Jenn Tran spoke to PEOPLE magazine about the Bachelorette pause. She noted that the ratings for The Bachelorette are always lower than for The Bachelor. She speculated that summer vacations and people not being home were the reason for the poor ratings. Jenn Tran said that she hopes ABC will bring it back in a different TV season so it gets more “visibility.”
Several Producers Resign After Pause
The drama surrounding ABC pausing The Bachelorette rivals what viewers see on TV. After the initial announcement, Deadline published a series of articles about the allegations of toxic behavior behind the scenes. Several high-ranking producers with the franchise resigned after the bombshell report.
One of the producers who resigned was Claire Freeland. According to sources, Freeland was responsible for Jenn Tran being forced to watch her and Devin Strader’s proposal during the After The Final Rose special, even though they had already split up at that time.
“Claire made that decision to put her in that position and air that proposal on live television,” the insider claimed. Viewers lambasted ABC for putting Jenn through that.
Jesse Palmer Reveals The Future Of The Bachelorette
Jesse Palmer took over as host from Chris Harrison in 2021. But his history with the franchise goes way back. The former pro football player was The Bachelor lead for Season 5 in 2004. He knows exactly how the show works.
As host of the show, he’s the one who usually introduces The Bachelor and Bachelorette leads and other news about the show. He shared a major update for the upcoming Bachelor In Paradise season during Grant Ellis’s After The Final Rose special on Monday.
Jesse Palmer addressed The Bachelorette pause on an episode of the Playing The Field podcast. He said that he truly thinks the show will return in the future, but couldn’t say when. “The good news is I know it’s not going away,” he assured Bachelor Nation fans.
While The Bachelorette won’t air this summer, there’s a chance it could air later this year. However, many fans think a new Golden Bachelor or Golden Bachelorette will take up the fall time slot. If that’s true, there’s always next year for The Bachelorette! Let us know in the comments when you think the spinoff will return.
